Needed some opinions. I have a 2001 4X4 Quadcab. I have the JRE exhaust, K&N RE-880, Amsoil BMK-15 (Which i have found will not allow the Psychotty sytem to be used). I dont tow anything (I may one day) dont go four wheeling, and dont haul anything.
I want to get an aftermarket electronic "Box" to get more power. Which one do i get, Blue Chip, Edge E-Z, TST, so many boxes, cant decide. My main goal is for more power for speed, and maybe, one day towing. I do not want to change turbos, waste gates, Tourqe Converters, Valve bodies, Bigger fuel lines or pumps or anything other then the Exhaust and induction. Just a little improvment that wont do ANY damage to anything on the truck or wreak havoc with anything on it or fry my trannie. Any suggestions? likes and dislikes of particular models? things to worry about? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You may want to look at the topic VA vs Power Edge EZ. I posted the questions and have had some good responses.

I'm leaning towards the VA, but that may change.

Why doesn't the PSA fit any more? I have the same set up and it is harder to install the PSA but still possible. As far as for your other question the EZ box give you the perforamance w/o the need to change anything else. But beware the Bombing bug get to you you'll be bombing again anyway.

I have my BMK-15 dual filter kit mounted halfway up the passenger side battery. When i put the Pshycotty plastic thing on, it forces the rubber inlet hose to the point where it collapses. I am trying to make a different sleeve to attacch the K&N to the hose. The adaptor that came with the induction is worthless, it is too short and way too small in diameter. I was not very happy with the Pshycotty kit. For one, when i ordered it, they said "It will go out first thing tommorow". 2 weeks later i called to see where it was and they said it had not shipped yet. Finally after 3 weeks it arrived (They charged my credit card the day i ordered it). For what they charge for it, i was expecting something made a little better. The seam down one side has huge gaps in it. And like i said, the adaptor sleeve was nothing more then a sloppily cut piece of exhaust pipe that as mentioned above, does not work. For what they charge they should include the filter. I would send it back but i tried to modify it to fit. Maybe i just got a bad one.

EMDDIESEL, the EZ would be a good choice for your truck. It already has a boost module built in and will really wake up that diesel. I have never tried the VA box, but why purchase the VA, more $$$, I believe, and then have to get a boost module to take advantage of same ? Just my opinion. The EZ was the first power mod. I put on my then otherwise stock truck and the increased performance is great. Maybe some members with the auto trans. can attest to their experience with an otherwise stock truck and the EZ, I think I remember reading about "hard shifts" with the auto and the EZ.
You should probably stay away from the heavy fueling boxes, i. e. ,Blue Chip, TST Powermax, etc. , unless you want to upgrade that transmission. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, i will call EZ monday and ask for some info. Is it easy to install and if i have to take it out to bring the truck to the dealer, will there be any evidence of it being there? (Cut wires, "void" stickers, etc)?

The EZ is a piece of cake to install or to remove, and no pierced wires or broken void stickers. Remove the EZ and the boost elbow when you go in for warranty service and they will not know it was there.

1st you never mentioned if you had an auto or manual (or if you did I missed it)
After my bit of research and a very lenghty talk with Bill K. , If you have the auto, you shouldnt do any power upgrades till you get some isssues taken care of in the Auto. If you have a manual, bomb away.

I do have the auto, what kind of issues do i need to take care of?, its not that mind adding a better TQ or valve body, but if i do, i just trashed my Transmission warranty. I would rather have a trannie warranty then an EZ, how much trouble will it cause?
