Does any one know of an aftermarket shifter for the NVG4500? The factory shifter in the newer trucks (Removable shift tower) feel very sloppy and loosens up after a few good stomp-shifts. We need a billet-style shifter with a positive stop to prevent transmission damage. How many people would be interested in this?

I saw an ad in a recent hot rod magazine, B&M Transmission Products is now making "short-throw" shifters for a wide variety of manual transmissions. I wish somebody in the TDR would call them up and request that they build us one for the NV4500, if they don't already.

Use the power of the TDR,why not call them back and tell them, they can reach potentially 20,000 members or more, and market such a shifter to us. A little persuasion might go a long way, it did where AutoMeter was concerned...

Tell them the diesel performance market is still in it's infancy, and this is their chance to get in on it... they can look at this website and all it's links, for proof.

The guy I talked to wasn't interested at all, I know some people in the aftermarket industry that I'll talk to about it. I will also call B&M back and try to talk to someone else a little higher in the company... Start from the top and work your way down, it usually works the best but I have been to busy.

Thanks for the input

Jonathon

PS-Briar I love your sig... LOL

Thanks, Jonathon:D for making these calls. I'm as interested as you in seeing that we get a shifter like this made... .

Keep me in the loop, please!

It gets tiresome dealing with clowns like that at B & M, doesn't it? Unfortunately, some companies, when they get that big, they're content to rest on their laurels, and not make any further efforts. Somebody at B & M is dropping the ball...

Glad you like the signature :D :D :D Seemed like a good way to tweak them, LOL ! I don't mind if anyone copies it, it'll be funny if a bunch of us have that in our signature...

I wonder how much a shifter would help the 4-5 shift??

I think that is why you get more MPH than me in your truck. If we put my transmission in your truck I bet I could go a 14. 20 lol ;)

I wonder what hurst would have to say about a shifter?? Even if your not racing a good short throw shifter is a pleasure to drive.

I emailed Hurst to see if they would make a short throw shifter for the New Venture HD 4500 & 5600.

Below is their short throw Shifter for a NV 3500:

I emailed a bunch of transmission places. No luck

Advanced Adapters has different length shifter handles for the NV-4500, for different vehicle swaps. I'm not really sure if that would help us.

A Salesman from AA answered my question with this reply:

"Handle for the NV4500 are approx 12".

Shifter..

I would also buy an improved shifter for my nv5600 :) . Put me down for a short throw shifter with an optional t-handle with a side switch and two wires down the middle for the exhaust brake wires. Sam

Me too... If they build it I will buy it...

Anyone asked Neuspeed?

They build all kinds of stuff for the 4" exhaust tip world. Maybe if we explain that our 4" exhaust is actually functional it would help :)

I made a short throw for my Jeep Cherokee with the AX-15 trans.

I took the shifter and lengthened the part below the pivot by 5/8" then made a spacer to move the tower up 5/8". Cut the throw almost by 1/2". I am really happy with it tightened up the

pattern. I does take a little more effort to shift, but my wife doesn't complain about.

Plan to do it to my 5600 but need some unavailable time.
