I've tried two separate AGR steering gear box's in the last few weeks with poor results. The gear box's seem to immediately develop an issue with too much play. I've added a Pro Fab steering stabilizer System, Pro Fab trailing arm kit, replaced every ball joint, replaced all tie rod ends a (even a few tie rods), replaced steering shaft with a borgeson and added a track bar relocation kit.

My truck has a leveling kit that changes the geometry of the steering shaft gear box connection. I'm thinking that the AGR gear box may be to handle the extra stress caused by the increased geometry. The OEM box never seemed to have a problem and I'm thinking of getting a reman OEM replacement unit. Has anybody else had an issue like this.

I thought the AGR box would be a step up in durability and have tighter tolerances but I think this may not be the case.

I can reach up and wiggle the input shaft back and forth between 1/16 -1/8th of a turn on the gear box. When you drive down the road the truck meanders back and forth because of the play. Has anyone had better luck with other gear box brands

I have an AGR box with no problems, however if your Tie Rods etc are all stock and old, not to mention the track bar, it might be other things. They are very good about problems, mine has been in a while but its a rock ram

I've talked to the guys at AGR multiple times in the past and their customer service has always been top notch.

My whole front end has basically been replaced and upgraded. The only problem I have left is that the AGR steering box doesn't seem to be staying tight. As soon as you put a load on the box it seems to immediately loosen up. You can turn the steering shaft by hand and feel the slack in the box.

I bet they will replace it under warranty, I know the newest ones have bearings instead of sleeves. I still have the steel pitman arm brace on anyway
