Air conditioning freon with leak sealer, now what?

So yesterday buddy and I were driving around, A/c wasn't cold enough. so stopped in, grabbed some freon and charged the system. Blows cold now. Noticed the accumulator can starting to rust wondering if maybe that's a leak.

Start surfing around today and see all the cautions about the freon with the leak sealer to not put it in. I go back out to the truck , grab the empty can out of the back to see what I put in and it had leak sealer in it... I had actually grabbed this one instead of regular freon because it said it had oil in it...

Ugh... .



So now what?



Obviously I guess I'm good til the system blows warm again...

AFAIK, you're good until you have to open the system to replace a component such as an evaporator or compressor.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking...

Looking at my accumulator can rusting, doesn't give me good feelings.



Just so I can prep myself for the pain... .

The system consists of the compressor, accumulator tank, 2 hoses, the evaporator and the condensor... Am I missing any parts?

So I went online to the website of the mfgr of the stuff I put into my a/c.

I put a freon + oil + leak sealer into it.



I didn't put in just a "super sealer"



According to them, the stuff I put in is a has a “System Safe" leak sealer is a gentle o-ring conditioner that does not destroy o-rings, it will not damage a mechanics a/c recovery and recycling equipment"



The super seal stuff is the type stuff that seals metal components.

So it is possible this sealer in this product is not the type stuff that hardens when it hit air? Or are they just feeding me BS.

I want to tag in on this thread so that when the freon gods chime in, they can answer my question as well... .

I recently purchased a can of ID Quest Auto Air Conditioner w/synthetic A/C Booster.

The can also says improves gas mileage, extends compressor life, and STOPS LEAKS!

Do I need to throw this away? I do not want to introduce something into the a/c system that will damage other components in the long term... Is the "STOPS LEAKS" part the same substance that the OP is questioning?

Wingate, That is the product I have purchased from Walmart and dumped in my 03 for several years now. The leak sealer must not be very effective, as I have to add a can every other summer, the only difference this year is, now it is in a 22 oz can.



I cannot see any oil residue anywhere, so I do not know where the leak is, but there must be one.

Thats good to hear, I actually purchased this can solely because it came with a can tap complete with cheesy gage. Had to pick it up since the a/c on my 2011 Ford F550 started acting up... .
