Hey Guys,
Today I decided to pop the hood and check the oil level in my truck. Much to my surprise, my airraid cold air filter was detached from the intake tube and lying in the bottom of the box.
Upon inspection, the band clamp seemed like it was still at the original tightness. I looked at it a little closer and found that the rubber part of the filter that the band clamp goes around was split about 25% of the way around. Has anybody else had this problem before? I have had the filter on my truck for about 45,000 miles.
They do have a great warranty and I plan to send the filter back to be replaced, but I'm considering switching brands, probably to the AFE PG7. I swabbed the intake tube right behind where the filter detached and it was full of road dust and grime from not having the filter on. I have no idea how long it's been off or if any damage was done to the turbo. Any suggestions or more info on what might have happened to my turbo if anything?
Thanks!
