Got the truck back yesterday and headed South and made it to Seattle. Hard knock and power loss and before ya know it trans temp is 250 and loosing speed and had to stop along the left shoulder along I-5 at around 10:30 pm.. After a long night of trying to get proper tow vehicles and being told I did not have coverage on my truck but did on the RV. Lots of dropped calls finally after 4 hours a Trooper stopped and said he could help get er dun. Told him shat I needed to tow a 10k truck and 25k RV he got his dispatcher to help and another 4 hours later the truck was towed 65 miles to Dealer and rV back home, oh yea $1,800 out of my pocket. Agent got things straightened out so I will submit invoice.

I was told this am talking to my parts friend that a trans is in Portland and other lines etc needed to have a clean system are being ordered. Not sure if Mechanic issue or trans. He mentioned something about a drum being spun???

Bottom line I will have a new AISIN for my trip South! More info to follow.

Have to ask ,could it be that you have been towing a 25K fifth wheel ? I tow a 13K fifth wheel with mine ,I can't even imagine 25K ,that's nearly two of my fifth wheels . I see how mine does , and although I'm less torque , and the 68 RFE it does well , it still seems like a pretty good work out. Thats a lot of combined weight up ,and down the hills with yours ,just wondering if that could be a factor over time .

Sucks having problems. All the best for correct repair. Safe travels.

Thanks! Honestly this is the first time we have been delayed in over 10 years full timing. Really happy to have it happen within an hour from home!!!

I was looking forward to pulling into the Red Bluff Elks setting up camp and heading in to enjoy a cold adult beverage and a great prime rib dinner! I hope the repairs will be done for that to happen this coming Friday!

I'd leave the truck behind for that prime rib. :D But yes ,hopefully you will get back on the road soon . I know the feeling with that actuator going out .

No, I am at or within my SAE axle ratings and SAE combined ratings also. Honestly the truck handles the load with ease. Trans rarely gets above 165 and 172 is at 100 out towing a LONG 6% grade. Never anything in pan other than a thin film on magnet. Fluid always looks nice and bright.

This is either the mechanics fault or I have one of the 178 AISIN's that have a known issue my parts guy mentioned.

These trans are capable of handling much more than I am feeding it just ask Mr GS Brockman.

It's just a little combination.

That was another one I was not effected by being in Desert Hot Springs at our lot I noticed it going out and told Crystal Chrysler to schedule me when they had a rental car. So I have been very lucky I have not been effected by mechanical issues til now.

I have never been stranded beside the road , that actuator delayed the trip home for a few days . We had friends there so we got around okay . And one tire issue that had to be changed out on the road . Knock on wood been very lucky myself .

Ron, did the WSP have anything to say about you towing two trailers?

Neither one said a word! SD plates and was asked for my WA DL. Tow truck driver showed and said "double towing huh" ??? I responded with SHHHHHHH. He said DOT would not allow them but he said screw it and towed my combo.

I have to give you credit for not saying maybe it's time to give it up. Many do. It's a wonderful way to spend a winter away from Cold, but not easy.

Our home is in Michigan. We do the entire west coast from Wash to Cali and have for over a decade. Been in your spot but can't go home. Eco diesel was the ultimate failure.

Thumbs up for spirit and adventure even when many give up. Good for you!

Thanks! We love to stay in the warmer climates. Always try to look at things as they could be worse!!!

Ron, do you have a trip over to Phoenix on this years schedule, still more riding we could do. And I could take you out in the Kawasaki KRX 1000.

Thats never fun seeing your truck on a tow truck, wasn't a Ford was it :D Thats always insult to injury .

Ha, no it was a Freightliner with most likely a CUMMINS/AISIN combo.

Can’t wait to see what happened when they tear it down tomorrow for inspection and to send pics to Selantis? for replacement request.

Just thought I would mention some interesting observations with the MM3 HO program I'm running on my 5500. The Aisin is getting signals from the ECM/PCM? that is improving low and mid TQ and has nice HP laced into it... the trans seems to follow the engines lead for load sensing and shifting under acceleration. Cruised it at 80MPH to warm up the old DPF just 20 miles down and back 20 miles on the interstate... so convenient access just a mile away. Learning more how to step into it to stay under the TQ mgt and seems to be working... no flooring this rig, but step into smartly. Aisin shifts strong and acceleration is amazing... no burnouts, just strong smooth power.

TH/Full EB is insane... I have to be careful someone doesn't run up on me when I release accelerator with aggressive slowing power and with auto EB, also way more braking. Only benefit of either EB setting in TH is maximum stopping power, like pulling big, heavy trailer. Duh, right?

This thang is my daily driver now and I'm loving it. just like plug tobacco, anyone want a chaw?:D

Talked to the Mechanic today. He said the truck would not move in F R or neutral with engine running. Had the driver shut engine off and it rolled in neutral. Then they towed it old school with a strap across the street.

He said he checked fluid and it was a small amount low but pointing to my black leather jacket said that’s what the fluid looked like.

He said he would have the pan dropped today to take pics for warranty approval.

Sounds like it will be a reman trans. Any thoughts on that? Parts guy thought I would get a 100k warranty on it but wasn’t sure. Any thoughts on that?

Mechanic said if engine rear main seal is even slightly weeping they will replace under warranty.

Hopefully repairs will be approved and trans ordered tomorrow. Then it will take two days to get the trans from Portland on a freight truck.

The way I understand it.....anything replaced under warranty is only warrantied until the original warranty expiration date; I’m betting no 100k warranty from the installation mileage and date.
