Hi everyone , I have à 2016 Ram 3500 ,6.7 Cummins and the Aisin transmission. I'm about to do a fluid and filter change. Second one for truck my 1st one though. It appears to be very basic except for those back 4 bolts and I've seen how they come out.
My only question is when you remove the old filter some people have mentioned an o ring in the hole where the filter neck goes into the valve body. Do you remove the o ring and put it on the new filter or just lube the filter neck and push it into the valve body.
Read lots of posts ,seen videos and it is mentioned but never really says how to proceed.
This is why I love this forum lots of good advise for people like me , enjoy working on my Ram , saving money and driving it like I stole it.LOL. Thanks for any info on such a silly question but it's easier to ask than break it. Thanks for your help.

Near as I can tell, the aisin has a o-ring in a groove on the tube that fits up into the valve body, comes on the new filter. Easy to swap.
Your description sounds like the 68RFE filter, that has a seal pressed into the trans case, and it is no fun to replace.

yes, with the Aisin the 0-ring is on the filter tube, not in the valve body. Just put a little ATF on the o-ring when installing the new filter.

And make a slight fist, then use the “heel” of your hand and gently “smack” it until it’s seated, then install the 10 mm bolts.
