I was having problems with oil all over the front of the engine. About a month ago I had the dealer relocate the breather as per TSB 09-002-02.
Would it have been better to perform your solution over the TSB?
Oh YES !!! very much. 1 hour is all it takes.
Just remove the cover, grind the rear tabs. Be sure to check that the hole will be between stiffeners and parts inside the head. If you use the pic as a guide, you will be fine... .
when you have the hole and all aluminum cleaned and parts pre-fitted, put the cover back on without the parts because of clearance... . then the grommet and filter slip right on.
Cut a small piece of the origional hose and plug it and clamp it back on the origional position so all the vapors go out the new opening.
Route a hose out and down the side making sure it is away from the exhaust, zip tie the end down by the motor mount so the end is like behind the axle and I cut the hose on a angle so the slip stream will pull the vapors out. I don't have any drips on my driveway and the engine breaths and no seal problems.
This is the best thing for the oil vent solution... . by far!
Closest thing to the old 12 valve side vent so now I can go down steep hills off-road and the engine will hold all the oil
