Allison Transmission as Factory Option

My neighbor has a 2003 2500 w/5.9 Cummins and Allison transmission he purchased used a couple years. He is under the impression that the Allison was factory installed option. News to me.

Not a chance, at least not behind a Cummins in a Dodge Truck.
I think they put the bigger, 2000 series behind them in motor homes.

I had a friend with a 2003 RAM 2WD dually that claimed he had a Mercedes automatic transmission. He never did believe me that he had a 48RE, the follow on to the the 47RE in house transmission. SnoKing
