Alternate Trailer Tires P205/74/R14 Load C?

I've read the various posts through the years about the various Trailer Tires and the problems with tread separation, damage to the trailer, etc. I've always used Goodyear Marathon - and only had 1 separation with 2 sets of tires. I would really like to consider alternates (e. g. , not special ST trailer tires), such as a Michelin, but it doesn't appear they made a Load C (50#) in the P205/75/R14 size.



Any suggestions for other brands, that aren't specifically trailer tires?



I know there are folks here that say you should always use the special trailer tires, but I want to consider others.

With a 27ft trailer, wyou should probably be looking for some LT (light truck) tires.

I found Michelin in LRC LT in a 15" size at Costco. There may not be many 14" LT tires out there but perhaps a change to 15" rims is in order.

The LT tires make sense to me. I think I am stuck with 14" since there is only 1 inch of clearance between the tandem tires. Any of the 15" tires I looked at are too big. Haven't found any 14" load c or LT tires, other than the special trailer tires yet.

I am interested to know why you want to use tires that are not ST on a trailer. Do you intend to use them on another vehicle later? What are you reasons?

The Goodyears of that size are now made in China, however Towmaster makes it in Canada and the tread is just the same as the Marathon which was also made in Canada..... I bet it's still the same plant:-laf
