Thanks, TDR Staff

Any owners of Deere STS combines w/HPCR injection- Heads up!

2004 6.0's still dripping ... WHAT THE ?!!

Iam going to start doing some small time excavating and would like to know if my truck is able to tow such a load.

1) 10 ton dull rear wheel tag tralier

2) 310,410 deere hoe 4-wheel drive x-hoe, maybe 580 case

A 2-ton dump truck of some sort is in the near future,. . Thanks

(my sig. will show my truck styling)

I tow a gooseneck trailer @ 8K with a Case 680 hoe @ 19k all the time, the weak points of the setup are brakes and tires, If you plan on doing this alot I would recommend getting an exhaust brake for sure and also some 19. 5 wheels and tires as the load rating are double your oem tires and wheels. With your current setup you may get away with it for a while but sooner or later it will bite you hard.

Cheers, Kevin

You should be fine

There is a local excavating company near me that has a simular setup. Main difference is that they pull the tag with a gasser Dodge 2500 instead of diesel. . They have 580 Case setup like yours.

We used to pull a JD 'hoe with a '80 Ford 3/4t 4x4 that had a 400V8 and 4. 10's. Had very little trouble with it. The 'hoe was on a homebuilt tri-axle (singles) tag trailer.

You should be alright, but if you plan on doing this for some time, Whitmore was right on the money.

I have in-laws right around Losantville, and travelled 35 all summer between Oxford, OH and home. That road has some serious curves and decent hills! Good luck.

Thumbs up from me if you do:

a) Goose neck for handling

b) top notch trailor brakes (with correct controler) for stopping

c) duel or 19. 5" wheels (as mentioned) for load

ps . V-5 hitch if you do use a tag a long & - slooow down as all that weight has more of a tendency to push you around when behind the rear wheels.

I pull a small excavator (26,400 lbs combine ) myself at times.
