Not to disagree that the taxes are a bit much on telephone and gasoline products, but 67. 87%? I figured it @ 29. 3%, not including all the taxes leveed on the oil companies, and passed on to consumers. We are taxed to death. Just remember, corperations do not pay taxes, they are passed on to customers as cost of a product.

Base the tax on the price of the fuel without the taxes.

$ 1. 16

. 225 -

. 244 -

$ . 691 Fuel cost + station profit

$0. 691 x 67. 87% = $0. 469 taxes

A lot of people are starting to use cell phones as the home phone, to avoid paying these taxes. I agree it is steep.

All the taxes get me steamed!!!

I just moved to Kansas from Texas and I live 6 mi from the Oklahoma border.

#@$%!

income tx sales tx on food -- other tags propety pers p

Tx na na 8% $69 yes no

KS yes 8% 8% $588 yes yes

Cross the state line to OK and fuel goes down $. 10/gal due to taxes.

the difference in the car tags is due to personal property tax paid on the vehicle.

I lose over $400/mo to the state of KS#@$%!:{ the roads are worse here too :mad:

Corporations don't pay taxes? Wrong! When a corporate vehicle buys gas or diesel guess what? They pay the same taxes as everyone else. When the corporate phone bill shows up guess what? They pay the same taxes as everyone else. When a corporation buys products or services in a State that charges taxes on those products or services guess what? They pay taxes the same as everyone else. When a corporation pays wages to its employees guess what? They pay MORE taxes than the employee. MOST corporations are small--they are the farmers and ranchers of this country, the small tire shop, the corner grocery store, your accountants, attorneys, Drs. , and YES--almost every entity that sells Dodge trucks and accessories or services for them are also corporations.

Is there something wrong with a corporation (or any business) increasing the cost of a product or service in order to cover business expenses? NO! A business can control profit in two ways. It can increase the price of its product or services or it can reduce overhead. One way to deccrease overhead is to reduce wages. So if you are offended that a business would pass the cost of doing business off to the consumer rather than reducing wages or workforce please raise your hand so your corporate employer can see the ungrateful person that should be eliminated from its workforce to prevent the offensive practice of trying to make a profit.

Can you tell I am tired of people whining about corporations?

corporations get screwed just like us. . I'm :{ cying about the taxes:{

I really wish we had a little more say in how OUR money is spent. It seems like an endless money pit w/little return.

I vote every chance I get. . I wouln't take the pay cut for public office. Not many IT nerds in politics;) It'd just be nice to feel like you had an impact without having to devote so much time to it. .

something about cake and eating it too comes to mind. Politics in general are kind of depressing. I get tired of picking the best of a bunch of loosers.

Only one question - When huge coorporations like the one we know that is in the news today - pay NO TAXES for 4 out of the past 5 years, how many of us can do that! That's why it's BS to talk about a FLAT TAX - huge companies will pay little - and us folks who actually can't hide our $$$$$ - wind up paying - "our fair share!" Every year there are zillions of changes to the tax laws - when was the last time your Senator or Congressman asked You What You Wanted Changed? Remember we live in the greatest land on earth -and she is still run by the Golden Rule - you know the one who has the Gold - Rules! Enough of my soapbox - but coorporate welfare, well it's either great or lousy - depending upon where you sit. :-{}

I made the mistake of selling a rental house, and MAKING A PROFIT!!

It'll cost me about 10K in tax this year, above the $300 (or so) I pay a week that I wont see any of.

This really sucks!

You hit it right on the head. The reason our tax code is so complicated is because special interests pay big dollars to lobby Congress to "adjust" the tax laws to benefit them. With a flat tax, there would be no special provisions, no lobbying to change them and hence, no big "campaign" contributions.

IMHO, the corporate tax is a joke because any taxes paid by a corporation are just passed along to the consumer. A flat tax or national sales tax (with appropriate limits on raising the rates) is the way to go. :)

Corporations don't pay taxes?

That is like saying employees don't pay taxes becaues they just pass them back to the company by negotiating better wages (passing the load to the company) so they can give the taxed amount to the government and still have money left.

Think about this. When you get your check the taxes are gone already. If the amount you have left is not enough then you require a raise, right? Why not a tax cut? What, it's easier to get a raise than a tax cut? This is in essence passing the taxes on to the company. Mmm. . Looks to me like we are all getting screwed. Either that or nobody is paying taxes, Ya right.

If you really wanted to upset the apple cart, require everyone to collect and be responsable for their own taxes. This way everyone will see the real value of the money they are giving to the government. One of the best ways for the government to steal from the people is to take the money before they get ahold of it. Cant' miss what you never had.

Profitable corporations pay income taxes, then some of the after tax net income is distributed to shareholders as dividends. Then the share holder gets to pay income tax again on the after tax dividends.

So the fuel taxes also include another double income tax.

Those of you complaining about corporate taxes remember this: You, the shareholder, are the corporation! When the corporation pays taxes there is less money to be distributed to its shareholders. Your retirement account and 401K are most likely entirely funded by your status as a shareholder in one or many corporations.

I think what is the most bothersome to me about the corporate taxation issue is that there is this base appeal by private people to believe it is unfair that the bigger boys (corporations) pay less taxes than us. Everyone seems to think that those people that have more should pay more. And, as the logic goes, since corporations have more they should pay more. So remember this--to most people the members of the TDR are among the group of people that "have more". How many private people can afford $30,000. 00 for a new truck? When you fall prey to the above argument just remember how lucky we are to be able to pay for our trucks and yes, even our taxes!

What really bugs me... The utility bills are starting to come with a billing fee. I thought processing the bill was part of doing business! Now they gotta charge us for it?!!

I want to know if I can pay my bill before they send me one, so I don't have to pay the fee. You think they'll let me do that?
