Torque Test on 2022 2500 Aluminum Driveshaft

I have some suction cup deal and another that goes over the window. Then they pull down like shades but have some holes in them probably go with that again.

But will figure our some seat protection thanks for the link.

I do have the under car seat protectors on there now, they help with the impression the car seats make in the leather. Worked pretty well in the 1500 and also in our Suburban.

It is brutal for the kids trying to sleep when the sun is glaring in.

OK... I measured driver seat all the way back in the front, distance from the back of the front seat to the front of the back was 9" <-->10" It may be an inch but hard to tell if the seat backs were "exactly in the same spot" (I forgot my digital angle meter!). It is surely not more than that as far as seat pitch is concerned between the two.. I assume the difference is in the seat structure as they are different from the CC to the MEGA.

Nice ride.. Any trouble with the MEGA and towing? I have all gooseneck trailers and I will be looking at a MEGA cab this Friday, but not sure about my trailers..

Im thinking about ordering one as I dislike the sunroof I have, just cant seem to make the numbers meet.

I have been towing with a Mega Cab since 2008 when i purchased my Dodge 2500, I have tow three different 5-ers with this truck. My only suggestion if towing a 5er would be to purchase a slider hitch. I now have an auto slider, a Demco Hijacker 18K hitch. Best decision I made for towing no worries at all just tow your trailer like normal There is a slight learning curve on backing up but not much. You just need to know that the hitch pin is always moving back as you turn into a camp site or parking spot and need to adjust for that.

Yeah.. I have only gooseneck type hitches and trailers. I converted my 5er to the Reese Goose box air ride (best decision ever) so I cannot do a slider. I will stick with the CC, I still want the 8' bed and since there is no extra leg room its not a big deal.. ( it would be a totally different story if I was shopping for a 3rd gen and one of the reasons I sold my 04 as my son is 5'9 at 11y old and was getting tight.)

did not last 2hr till its was a Goldfish massacre!

HAHA! I actually use these as dog treats ... because if one gets dropped and a random kid picks it up and eats it: No Paperwork Involved. They are also 3X cheaper than store bought dog treat bags. The best part is the dogs can clean a mess like that up faster than getting a vacuum out. They also indicate any out of sight ones that were "missed" under the seat etc.

Hey that's a sweet looking ride. I favor the chrome grill and bumpers on a truck. I don't know if I would allow anyone to eat anything in a brand new truck. You may want to get a dog seat cover for the back seat that would stop a spilled drink from soaking into the fabric.

Thanks, yeah I have the night edition 1500, it's a nice package, but I liked the chrome, I have way too many right now, the '18 is a plastic tradesman, which is great, then the night 1500 and the chrome 3500. They all look good and I really think they all work for each vehicle.

But yeah they depricate as soon as you sign forget driving off the lot, so kids are free to roam at this point someone might as well enjoy it.

I had the 1500 ceramic coated and was not asking for a dollar for it. They wrote +$150 on the trade in offer, I said that was embarrassing for them to.write that and please remove you have no idea what your doing there take the loss. I have to rely on technology to help with the up keep.

Seat covers will be installed in the back.

They have never really destroyed a vehicle so fast, pretty impressive.

From the pics one fell asleep with their hand in the bag and probably woke up and pulled it and all the Goldfish out as well. The other fell asleep and placed the bag next to then and it probably just tumbled out.

That's why I would have went with Work Vinyl and Rubber Floor! But they don't want to hassle with the custom order deal on Big Horn was not an option.

I actually have car seat protectors under those now, but do need another cover for sure.

I just put our '19 Suburban in for service and the guy said hey we are running a detailing special in and out for like $179, they are slow and he said same folks who do their used cars do the service. I physically walked him out to the truck because there are kids in the thing, he said no problem it looked many times better then what he expected. So that was a plus.

But I get it, unfortunately zero food is not an option in the truck. It's survival of the fittest out there!

Got the paint correction, some xpel wrap at the bottom, and ceremic coat, don't have the truck back yet but got some pics, I could go grab it but its pretty dreary today can grab it tomorrow.

The factory had a small call it wallet size piece of protective on the back they took that off and put the xpel wrap on the lower part. Will detail out those later when I get it back.

Got the truck back, it did rain yesterday so it's already dirty but pretty bulletproof.

They did the wrap down the entire lower of the truck you can the little line.

Overall it came out great, took about 7 days all in and takes 30 days to cure so no washing and the sort. Not for the faint of heart price wise kind of if you have to ask deal. But these are 9 year products and probably some annual tune ups that they can do to check the integrity.

You do need to let the body shop know you have this stuff as it's a mechanical bond not chemical, so it has to be sanded off then other processes performed like blending, some shops make a big deal about it, but it like no other process. There is a detailed process for this removal, so as long as they can follow the process your good.

For me I can push my overall time between cleaning so it's more of an insurance policy.

There are some gaps in the factoy paint process, this is the hood to pillar area, and there is a run on the bottom rear door, it's not a $400k vehicle so not worried, but something to watch out for, I would never send it back for these little areas, but would keep an eye on them for sure.

500 Mile Review (650 on truck)
Truck is running good ,turned my 500 on Saturday, so far just been doing some daily driving, put on about 145 miles over the weekend took it on a job.

Fuel mileage, first 20.7 gal was like 16.2mpg, then today was 16.8 gal was 17.07 mpg, hand calculated and I started a small log book not sure how long I will do that for, who knows.

Exhaust Brake / Tow Haul
I'm new to EB's. '96 did not have one and coming from an '18 gasser. It works really well. Obviously folks who have had these for ever this is not news, and can skip this.

Auto is really good. Used to maintain the speed you let off at and it does a really good job, we have some small hills and it's a great feature.

Full EB, is very good but can be super aggressive at times as the name states.

I typically run Auto just because I don't need to slow down when I let off most times I'm looking to maintain.

It really is a brake saver and I can see a huge benefit over the gasser.

Tow Haul, honestly not much different then the gasser, I run it when I know I will need the extra RPM and want to run out the shifts a bit, when I turn off my road and on to a main drag there is an immediate uphill. The TH works well for this as even the gasser gets confused going full stop to a decent up hill it can lug pretty good, so I run it for a short distance then shut it back off.

No way I could run Full EB and TH all the time that would not be enjoyable.

If I know it's going to be some shifty area I actually will turn it all off, running unloaded and say in a parking lot Full EB and TH can be a handful in tight spots.

But it's fun to figure out what works best for me.

DEF / DPF
Obviously not much DEF used in 1st 650 miles. It's barely above the first line (7/8).

The DPF filter gauge hangs out around 25-30% I've seen it a little higher and lower, don't put too much effort into this but I check it just bored really. Probably just keep an eye on it more based on that one thread on another '22 that is stuck in that endless 100% loop.

Probably could use some reading up how the system works and what to expect. But really just try to keep the short trips to a minimum. Have enough other rides to go grab something quick.from the store, most rides are 35min longer. But can get stuck behind some really slow folks around here which make you regret taking it out.

Highest I've seen it. Again just bored and something to look at.

Off Road Menu
Only works below 25mph. This gives you the degrees and pitch deal. Never had that in the tradesman, my '19 burb has this and it's active all the time, I don't need it but seems like a neat feature.

Dealer Prep
Yeah was kinda of a joke. Not sure they did too much, but then did random stuff I asked them not too. I think there is a fuse out for the radio settings, or needs to be moved out of transit mode somehow, but I use Andriod Auto so not too worried. The clock resets every trip. Too lazy to look into it really and I don't use any of the radio settings anyway. Not sure if this impacts anything else does not seem too besides the clock in the NAV. Phone never has to be paired again so it's not a huge deal. Will look into it at some point.

Unlimited Power
It's pretty crazy how restrained this thing is, in regards that I'm sure I over bought here and could do well with a much smaller power unit.

The 6.4 gasser was just too wound out on RT80 in PA, it would scream at 9mpg loaded all day long up and down the hills. I'm pretty sure this is too much truck for what I'm going to toss at it.

Tire Pressure / Ride
Running 65 Front / 35 Rear, truck is super quite at 75 mph down the highway.

Ride is not bad, between my wife and me I think this rides better then the '22 1500 Laramie at times. The '19 Burb beats both but it has a space ship ride control, the '22 1500 is pretty bouncy.

Towing
Have not yet need to hook up the deckover and take a ride. Should toss the '22 1500 up on it go for a ride.

Fuel / Prices
First 650 miles I'm $224 in the hole, $5.99 a gallon. So not winning any TCO awards over the 6.4 anytime soon.

I have been going to a really nice gas station for a few years, they just got rebuilt and they move a decent amt of diesel they sell to several school bus companies, so I have a pretty nice spot to fuel up locally.

Overview
So far so good, everyone is liking the truck. Need some steps for sure. Will work on figuring that out shortly and some undercoating deal for the upcoming season of salt! Gotta hate the NE for that.

Your dash is very much different than my tradesman 3500 ho 2022
Yeah my '18 Tradesman is much different.

I have a few '22 full size Promaster vans, and the one was delivered in Nov "21, it's a '22 but the tech is much different then say the ones from April '22 on, it's a big change in just those few months for the same model year.

Here is the 8.4 nav, with the ever resetting clock. It's super nice screen, I like it much better then the 12" monster in the 1500. They are all nice, just I like the simple set up.

The actual dash in this 3500 is very similar to the '22 1500 Laramie.

One thing that does stand out is the bed lights and license plate light are white LED, and the rear top cab light are a say soft white incandescent, it's pretty noticeable difference, I'm not a super fan of the super Brite LED, but I might have to look into swapping that our not sure yet. Would swap the top rear cab light.

It's kinda hard to take a pic.

But say the rear cab light is like a 3300k and the inside bed lights are like a 5500k, it's a huge difference.

Nice ride Tim,.. Id sure like to add that LED light in the tailgate, I dont have it and it looks like it lights up nicely.
Thanks.

The tailgate bracket deal for the camera looks a little different for this thing.

I don't think it's fully updated in AllData for sure. The camera mount is similar to the 2020, but the diagram for the tailgate light shows different mounting holes.

Would probably need to get the latch bracket, I just have a manual tailgate as well. So not sure if all these pictures are fully correct for all versions.

Here is the 2020 Rear Tailgate Camera. (Shown as this in the 2022 area currently.)
Screenshot_20221115_081939.jpg

Then the blue circles is what looks like the 2022 camera mounts too, and the orange deal is this light.

I’m guessing no cargo camera? If not then it should be easy enough to put LED bulbs in there. They appear to be 921 bulbs.

I’m really liking all the light the ‘22 puts out, and the color of it.

It’s much more useful and handy than I imagined it would be.

Nope, you can tell I never had a Gooseneck or 5th Wheel, it probably should have one for that package.

Will stop and get some of those and swap them out. Thanks for the leg work.

yeah, probably have to purchase a new surround and the LED lights. The real question is if there is a signal / wire there for the LED to connect to. I assume its a power wire connected to the unlock / interior light circuit and may not be present on the 19,20s.
