i read all the infomation i could find on the bhaf and the best price was carquest but they charge you for shipping because they dont stock it but the cummins dealer said 38. 00 but they want shipping too because they dont stock it and they are 50 miles away napa is about 25 miles but they dont stock it either but they dont charge for anything but the 48. 00 for the filter the web sight said napa was 37. 00 or so but here in northern michigan it was 48. bucks how do i get it less i tried to run it through a shop but it did no good plus i looked at the pictures and it is very large it does look like the hood closespretty tight plus how do you keep in place?also the napa place says it is for marine use what does that mean?

There is a marine version and standard version. The difference is the marine version has wire mesh inside to support the filter and avoid problems with moisture causing the element to get weak and get sucked into the turbo. The standard highway version does not have the mesh inside (Fleetguard).

The marine version is more expensive and is about 2 inches smaller in diameter. The BHAF when mounted on a holder can touch the hood when the hood closes. It's tight. the MHAF leaves a little room there.

I was running the BHAF but the last time I was at Cummins South, they had the marine version in stock (MHAF) and I picked one up. Although it is a little smaller, I didn't notice much difference in the EGTs and performance was the same.

On the post about how much dust is on a lake... ..... these filters clear out the salt from the sea spray. It gets everywhere on the boat, including the engine intakes. ;)

I may well switch to a BHAF type filter - the marine version sounds great - are the Fleetguard type as superior as their other filter lines - or is there an even better brand available?

Anyone have a part number on the Cummins BHAF marine filter - Cummins West guys get REAL confused without a number...

More interested in efficiency than price - comments?

The Marine Version is P/N AH19002. They run about $55. 00. I think it's worth it. I went with it after we got so much rain last summer down South. I didn't want to have the filter get sopping wet and suck in.

I don't, but mine uses the Mallory mount. It bolts in place of the OEM filter and is made to tie the MAHF/BHAF down in that location. Sorry. Do a search on the BHAF. Some of the early post show them mounted. I'd go take a picture but I'm fighting crime and lawlessness on the high seas today.
