Another New Truck

Like many others I am also waiting for my new truck. I fact it is my first diesel. The information I've read on this site has been great. It has really got me thinking about a lot of things. I am also discovering that I don't know enough.

Is there a good primer on the owning/operating one of these great trucks (figuring that once I get the truck the owners manual won't have what I "really" need)? Maybe a couple of back issues or good discussion threads that will highight most of the important issues?

In other words, what do I really need to know that DC won't tell me in their manuals.

Mine is also my first diesel and my first pick-up. TDR is probably the most helpful resource that I've used to learn about my truck. I read the owners manual front to back when I first got the truck (in April). I also bought the factory service manual. I found both of these to be very helpful too. Re-reading the owners manual and daily visits to the TDR site help me when I'm performing maintenance on the truck. There's a lot of helpful hints and tricks to be learned on TDR about these trucks. Doing as much of my own work as possible on the truck also helps me learn about it. It's been a lot of fun getting into the diesel world. Good luck!
