Anyone heading to Woodstock, GA for the Shootout?

But that isn't good enough for these buttheads is it? They got to shoehorn themselves into the car length between me and the car ahead.

It usually happens with us when we're towing our 13,500 lb 36' 5th wheel - the full rig weighs 21,180 lbs GCW (21,500 lbs GCWR). Naturally, I try to leave a reasonable safety margin between us and the car ahead, the laws of physics and braking distances being what they are. Unfortunately, there are too many ***holes on the roads who have no concept of the dynamics of trailer towing, and they'll dive bomb into my safety space and then jam on their brakes to make a right turn - in a Ford Escort in one case.

So, here I am standing on the brakes trying to keep our 10. 5+ ton rig from going right over their little ****box just so they can whip into the drive-in at McDonalds for an Egg McMuffin and an OJ.  If I hit the air horns, they turn around and give me one of those "What's YOUR problem?" looks, shoot me the bird and go on about their business. Makes me glad I don't keep that 12 ga short barrel 870 in the truck!

I know exactly how you feel Rusty. That's one reason I'm sort of gald I don't have a pistol right now (not to shoot 'em but to pistol whip them). I've had the same experience when pulling horse trailers and especially when I was hauling hay. I have a 24' w/5' dovetail flatbed that I would use to haul about 250 bales of hay on with my old Duracrap. Well that truck was no prize and it was fairly slow off the line even with the Juice and I didn't get in too much a hurry, but it never failed some jerk would cut in. Had one dude in a Ford Ranger cut me off and slam on his brakes so I laid into it and chased him down the interstate. Unfortunately, the trailer didn't ride that great at 75 (only hit it for a brief second going downhill) and he was leaving me fast so I let it go. Just glad I wasn't running light and had my Juice turned up to 4.

I was pulling my 5th wheel RV up to KC for the races last weekend 65 MPH. Kid on the on ramp in a Hyundai Santa Fe had plenty of time to goose it and pull out in front of me, but didn't have the kahonies to do so and slammed on his brakes at last minute. I had a Ford P/U in the left lane and couldn't move over.

Punk kid passed me after the P/U cleared me and pulled over in front of me and hit his brakes. I moved to the left lane to pass him and he gunned it (if you can gun a Santa Fe).

My stock CTD will pull my RV over 85 MPH. That's what it took for me to catch him. I rolled my window down and chewed him out. He took the next exit. Hopefully to clean his pants out!

I would like to have run him off the road, but I could just see him rolling the Santa Fe and getting killed. The look on his face when I pulled up next to him was a little justice.

The day will come when I catch the punk out there and I don't have the RV behind me!
