Here I go again.

I've replaced the TPS 3 times and still have engine surging in 3rd, 4th. & 5th gear upon acceleration and even when the cruise control is engaged.

I'm thinking the problem is with the replacement ECU.
Can The ECU be re flashed to fix the problem?
Anyone have this happen to them and how did you correct it?

I'm stopping short of swearing here as I now that is a no no. I really need to get this fixed as it is hard to drive with this problem.
Thanks, Tom

FYI: The whole nine yards have been replaced.
New RV275 injectors. New Turbo, New VP44, New FASS DDRP.
So it's not low fuel flow/pressure.

I have seen the ecm cause many problems lately, that used to be directed at different parts, that you have already changed. The easiest way to check is - if you have a buddy with 24v truck, borrow his ecm & see if the problem goes away.

Tom most likely your problems are related to electrical noise being picked up on the APPS throttle signal line that leads to the ECU, due to a combination of an alternator not putting out clean current and less than perfect grounds. It looks like you've replaced mechanical parts attempting to correct a problem that's electrical in nature. Go around your rig and remove and clean ground connections, both on the wiring harnesses and even the battery cables/posts. And even the grounds under the dash. Then you might look into an alternator rebuild. One member had trans TC lockup issues and found fibers from his underhood pad had been sucked into the alternator and made it noisy.

Another thing is if you have TDR Issue 52 there is a good read on page 39. In a nutshell the electrical noise issue was solved by rerouting the wire that goes between the alternator and starter by pulling it out of the wire harness.

My '01 had some surging issues and after addressing grounds it made a noticeable improvement.

Do a search on TC lockup issues too.

Thanks Vaughn.
I just got back to the computer and read your comments. I printed all out. Guess I'll have to do all you mention. Have thought about rebuilding the alternator for PM, never been touched and I'm right at 200,000 mileage. Going to have to live with it for now, to busy this month. UGG... ... .....
