After reading his profile, I find out that he's living in the same county as me!

After I get properly BOMBed I'm going to need to change my commute to pass by his house at 05:30 each day. :D

If he thinks my CTD is loud and obnoxious, wait 'til he hears my shovelhead.

Is this guy tall enough to get in a diesel truck?? It looks like he would need a booster seat for anything bigger than a Yugo.

My response: what a sad, sad little man. I think the real problem is that he needs a vacation—some time off from work. Maybe in Europe, where diesels in some areas outnumber gas by 3 to 1!! He embodies the essence of the journeyman (probable apprentice) technical writer, to whit—bad science. He should know that a garlic clove around his neck will protect him from the 'diesel smugpots'—it will NOT protect him from MTBE, that tonic added to his gas in a desperate effort to achieve stoichiometric combustion, and possibly one of the MOST carcinogenic industrial compounds in use!! Of course, it couldn't be possible that the EPA is 'turning' to diesel emission regulation because they are becoming aware that this is where the automotive industry, partly driven by demand and circumstance, will be heading. they stopped regulating horse emissions a while ago... (As I sat watching the news last nite and listening to the traffic I heard no fewer than 30 diesel pickups, a tremendous number for our area from previous years. )

So, let us all raise a toast of toxic groundwater in sympathy of this warped, frustrated little man and wish him health and prosperity. Here's to you, and hopes that you never need the aid of: 1. A tow truck

2. Your fire department (when your gas engine goes???... )

3. An ambulance

P. S. If he would in gratitude buy me a particle filter for my exhaust (since he has on=bviously never reviewed current emission reports from actual vehicles) I will gladly install it, and MY job will be done!!!!;) ;)

And now that I have surveyed Mr. Jackson's CV, I see as a physicist he has forgotten the first rule of physics—there is no such thing as a free lunch. It would seem "the problem revolves around Volkswagen" No offense to a great car, BUT a good guide is IF it CAN get 75MPG, it PROBABLY won't move out like a formula 1. As to his comments about noise, sluggishness, etc, Mr. Jackson might want to actually go see a real-life modern diesel (other than his beloved VW) before speaking so eloquently!!

1. I like driving lawn tractors.

2. If these idiots wouldn't tailgate me, they wouldn't have to roll their windows up.

3. What noise?

4. I love the smell of disel in the morning.

5. The diesel engine lasts twice as long? Routine maintenance is good for the soul. With 85,000 miles and 8 payments to go, I see no truck payments in my future til sometime in 2010. (Maybe, I love my truck!)

It's a shame this clown get's paid to spew His Opinions, Not Fact around. He does give the diesel credit for some level of performance, and durability, and economy, but then He drops His pants and unloads on the little TDI. He didn't state facts or compare figures, cost per mile, etc. Or state that Thrid World Countries like Germany, Austria, etc. ALL buy these diesel's in High numbers.

Sure makes You realize how little of the broadcast or printed news is accurate anymore!

A letter writting campaigne to His Boss would get more results, Keep in Mind, His Boss probably isn't Much smarter than He is, Should respond to threats to boycott His advertisers.
