I was wondering about what type of anti freeze that is out there now for diesel trucks. I replaced mine with some that I purchased a 3 or 4 years ago. I bought extra gallons at that time but now I cant seem to find any that is diesel specific. I bought the last at wal mart and it was pre mixed red and it specified for diesel trucks. Will the new stuff that is suppose to mix wirh anything work or where can I buy diesel antifreeze.

bjarp 1996 3500 kdp fixed 138K still going strong.

DO NOT RUN A BRAND CALLED "FLEET CHARGE"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is a pinkish purple color and it is not to be confused with DEXCOOL that GM uses. However it may as well be. It ate over 7 heater cores out of my ford. Ford used the brass cores, and I beleive Dodge did back in the early 90;s before switching to the aluminum sometime when the 98's came out. Don;t quote me on those years because I am not 100% certain when that changed. I have found though, that when you buy aftermarket cores, most are brass.

However it looked like a promising coolant to use, it was precharged with SCA's and was extended life, what more could I ask for? I used it for awhile not knowing it was the reason my heater cores only lasted 8 months. I even bought genuine ford cores and they lasted only a little longer than the canadian ones.

I ended up flushing it for over 2 hours with water and went back to the good old green. On fords I had to buy the SCA's to charge it.

I beleive you can also use Zerex G-05 yellow/gold coolant it you want 150,000 or 5 years. It is proven itself in John Deere, mercedes, and many other heavy duty diesels. Ford has use it since 02 with absolutly no coolant related failures. GM on the other hand will have a class action lawsuit over their deathcool blasting out lower intake gaskets and head gaskets.
