After an attempted theft of my 06 I decided to install an anti theft switch similar to the one I installed in my 99. Finding wire colors to different on my truck than shown on 8W-13-14 I decided to try another method. The paper that was on the window at time of purchase listed Remote Key Entry.
I found by removing the covers over the steering coelum and ignition switch there was a module above the switch. Not knowing what is was I continued trying to find the correct wires to use.
Today I went to a Dodge parts Dept. for information on my truck. By using the Vin # they were able to provide all items listed when this truck was built.
The problem solved. Listed was items GMX Remote Keyless Entry, GXX Sentry Key Theft Deterrent System and LSA Security Alarm. The Sentry Key system is what will prevent this truck from starting unless you have one of the two keys that came with it.
Moral of story. One should visit a dealer to pull a list of items installed or like me spend hours with the 8W section of the repair manual. Remove the covers over the key switch and say what the heck it this thing.
