The Ugly Truth About Big Oil Companies

World demand equates to higher prices for oil in China, but not in the Pacific Northwest. We get all of our oil from Alaska and some from I believe it is Montana.

I think it well past time for the government to explain why we pay such high prices for oil coming from our own domestic supply. There is a point (we passed it a long time ago) when oil and gas coming from domestic supply should be price at half of what it is. No matter what happens in the middle east, or politically in Mexico or Venezuela, our domestic supply doesn't change.

The government doesn't have power to set prices for oil and gas right now. But it is just a vote away from having the power. They aren't even putting pressure on the industry.

Pull up CITGO on the computer and it will tell you all u need to know. This is the clown that has already shut off buying rights to EXXON-MOBILE, which in turn has driven up the price of crude. AS I said b4- 3 barrels of crude for 1 bushel of grain.

here in No. Va, it is $ 4 is some places already, the cheapest is about $3. 45,, we need to open our reserves and cut back some importing, open some capped wells and put some people back to work , before long , the average person won't be able to afford to have a job,, then what , there are many of us out here that depend on having a truck for their job and don't have much choice of other trans, it has gone up here about 30-50 cents a gal. in the last two weeks, at that rate ,it will be $4. 50 -$ 5. 00 /gal by summer,,I have an 05 ,it was $1. 89 when I bought this truck,,,at a tank or two a week ,it won't take long to go broke and today's and tomorrow's prices,, and everything we buy results from the increase and just keeps getting trickled down to the poor slob that has no way to do anything about it,, our government doesn't care about average Americans ,only so called free trade, what a joke,, a Harley in Japan is 3-4 times the price of it here in the US, real even trade ,what a joke,, everything in the world seems to be made in China and is sold to the world cheap,,, their economy is booming and ours is collapsing,,, too bad they don't produce oil and put a hurtin on the Big Oil countrys,,,,,enough

Ross Perot tried to tell everbody there would be a BIG sucking sound, noone would listen. He might had been all ears but he wanted to keep job in the US! I think he also said why trade with people that want to put us under. China is trying to kill our kids with lead and our pets with plastic. Let me off my box.

Very well said!!!!!!!! I wish Ross Perot would have made it to the big house!

Its 3. 89 here at Pac/Pride in San Leandro and higher at the smaller outlets. Saw 3. 99 at one station. Heh ! forgot to add the . 09 on these.

If Billary or Hussain Obama get elected we'll have it just like the 70's when there was no fuel to be had, lines at filling stations several blocks long - - even/odd day purchases (by plate number) after waiting for two hours - - if the station hadn't run out you could only buy 10 gallons- - Gov't tried price controls and made that happen - - - I know most of you don't remember those days, but look out - - its comming!

Billary wants to increase taxes on the oil companies and that will force them to move off shore.

I absolutely remember the long lines in the '70's, and it wasn't government price controls that caused the problem. It was the Arab oil imbargo. We were importing most of our oil from the Saudi's, so there just wasn't any. Oil from Prudoe Bay in Alaska hadn't hit the market yet, and we were just up $@%^ creek for a while. The reality was that the Saudi's had committed an act of war against us and we didn't respond. Just like now. They have committed an act of war against us, and we're just not going to respond.

Diesel $4.00/gal +

Just returned from vacation in Hawaii. Diesel on the Big Island averaged $4. 16/gallon. Still a lot od cummins on the road.

Unfortunatly, I do remember the gas lines.

FWIW, There is a Cheveron station down the street from me that has been @ 4. 15 for some time.

All the other stations that carry diesel are around 3. 69 or in that neighbor hood.

Paying $3. 69 here in DC area. Even with todays prices, still prefer to have power at the wheels versus 50 cents less for unleaded. I don't how much longer though ... It is going to be hard to justify our trucks for anything other than hauling or towing! ... . Recently installed my Spearco Intercooler and what a huge difference ... . I know , I know it hasn't warmed up here in DC yet!!!

what kills me is a few weeks ago ,, gas prices were going down and diesel was still going up,, now diesel is absolutely rediculous and gas has gone up a few cents,, diesel costs less to manufacture than either midgrade or high test , but now and for awhile now it has exceeded the price of premium by between 50-75 cents a gallon,, there can't be that much difference in what stations in the same locality pay for their fuel , some charge a little more than gas and some get stupid with their price,, I know the production rate in this country could double easily just by uncapping a few wells without ever drilling a new one,, it's a shame no one cares about joe/average citizen! it;s going to get real bad real soon if nothing is done,, the political rectoric isn't going to fix anything,, these record setting profits for huge oil are a joke,, raping everyone, where will it stop?

My theory is: My truck is paid for. For what I would get out of it plus the cost of a new truck & insurance & more for plates. I am way better off to dump 90 - 100 bucks of fuel in the truck every 2 weeks. That even works with buying a small call to drive most of the time. By the time you ad plates, insurance and gas for both I bet I would still be better off. I know I might be the exception than the rule going trough a tank every 2 weeks but that is the way I justify it. -Jason
