The Ugly Truth About Big Oil Companies

Before buying my '07, I test drove a Ford F-150 with all the goodies. Ford has a great truck on their hands. I especially liked the huge cab. Having owned a moderately bombed '99 with DTT auto. prior to the test drive, however, jaded my opinion of the F-150. Inadequate power unladen and a mushy as heck transmission. My '07 so far has had no issues with the exception of a broken hose clamp. :) It still sucks paying $0. 40 more per gallon for a substance slightly more refined than what bubbled up from the Clampetts property.

Jason,

I drive a 1994 Chrysler Concorde, and I have the same opinion as you. Even at present gas prices, I can buy a whole lot of gas for what it would cost to buy a new "high mileage" car. But we're still getting robbed. (although I do get a little better than 30mph on the hwy which isn't that much worse than a lot of the new little "high mileage" cars)

I filled up for $3. 35 with the $0. 10/gal discount last night at Frys. The gas city station down the street was $3. 59. I usually fill up once a month for about $100, and my truck is now PAID FOR, so the cost of fuel is not much of an issue for me, unless I'm towing. I too have considered gettting a high MPG gasser for commuting. Even if the cost of the car was free (which it isn't), I could not save enough on fuel to even pay for the gas, registration, and insurance. I still might do it some day when my truck is older just to have a nicer car to get around in.

Paid $3. 69 here in Tampa this week on a main thoroughfare. Went off the main road about 4 blocks and saw it for $3. 52. Moral: Never buy my diesel on the main drag of town.

I still would not trade it in, love my truck. It would have to be awfully high for me to quit using it as a daily driver. Over $6 per gallon I might consider letting it sit for a bit.

I paid 3. 699 at Exxon in Hagerstown, Md. today, last fuel I had bought was a month ago at the same station for 3. 299, but in Mounbt Airy ,Md. today Exxon was 3. 899 and across the street Shell was 3. 999.

I saw a sign at $3. 99 / gal at one of the truck stops"near" here. They're usually cheaper than I pay by 3 or 4 cents too.

I just took a quick trip to Fla. ,, the cheapest along I-95 was 3. 49, the average was about 3. 64,, GA and FLA, had the highest on average,, SC the cheapest, mostly about 3. 54,, WON'T BE LONG IT WILL BE AT LEAST $4 EVERYWHERE

It's $3. 95 here. I just don't get it, Diesel rose by 30 cents in the last three weeks but heating oil only 19 cents. I think we are going for a wild ride here.

OK The Sunoco where I don't buy fuel is at $4. 10/gal and has been since last week. The Sunoco where I do buy fuel (just 2 miles down the same road from the first Sunoco) was $3. 99... near Buffalo, NY
