I was looking at Bridgestone Dueler a/t tires. How well do ya like em. Do they balance out good? How do they handle loads? A 285/75/16 is running $144. oo at Mills

thanks jeff.

Jeff,

I don't have them but have heard great things about the dueller A/T Revo which is a step up from the AT. I am considering those along with the nitto grapplers. Is that price for the standard AT or the AT Revo?

-Jason

I have the AT Revos and if that price is for them that is a great price. I have had them for about 8k now. Wet traction and dry traction is very good. Off road they seem good but have not done any serious mud or sand. We only had a minor snowfall right after I got them and they seemed very good. I have pulled a 5k trailer several times and they seemed fine for that and I had 1500 lbs in the bed a few times and they seemed good for that as well, though those weights better not stress a load e tire. All in all so far so good we will see if they last but so far they still look in great shape and doesnt look like much tread is gone yet but I haven't actually measured it.

Jeff -

I'm running the Dueler AT REVOs and they are the best tires I have ever had. IMO, they are better in the mud, snow, dry and rain than the BFG ATs. They run very quiet and don't pick up a lot of rocks. I have about 10k miles on them and they still look new. They have a 50k wearout warranty and I think they are still doing the 30 day satisfaction deal.

I got a GREAT deal on mine. The dealer was running a buy 3 get 1 free deal with half price mount & balance and $5 road hazard warranty. Total was just over $550 out the door! Skip the ATs and go for the AT REVOs.

zman,

that's an awesome price. I will keep my eye open for those deals but they are few and far between.

p. s. did you get 265's or 285's?

Jason -

I bought the 285's. With my 3. 55 gears and my DTT 91% converter, the 285's didn't help with the lag I get off the line when I nail it. If you're running 4. 11's, that wouldn't be an issue. The 285's look much better on the truck than the 265's did.

The Firestone/Bridgetstone shop in my area runs that deal about 3-4 times a year. Good luck finding a deal!

zman,

I worked for them installing tires, among other things, years ago. I wish i still did so I could get a good deal. Anyway, i too have 3. 55's but I ran a set of 285's (loaned to me by a buddy) and they were'nt unbearable. They looked a lot better than the 265's, though. I am going with 285's at this point. Thanks for the info. I have just heard some great things about the revos and was considering them.

I had a set of 285 dueler A/T's. I got about 55'000 out them and still had a little left before the wear bars. They do a pretty decent job of cleaning out in moderate mud. On the HWY, they hold the road good. I think they have a harder rubber compound to them and thats why they last. The only draw back that I have towards them is that they ride a little rough. Other than that, they are a really good tire.

The duelers I had didn't like the heavy loads on gravel loads. Had a 250 bobcat welder and to full job boxes (about 2800#s) on and the duelers (at 30% tread) said no way. one puncture, one side wall blow out and one tread seperation all in about 15 miles. I make sure tire pressures are appropiate and such. I'm sure they are good tires maybe I just had a freak run of bad luck, But 3 at once???????

Yes you are right and they are probably an excellent tire. You asked for opions on the AT's and that is what I gave you. Nowadays if products aren't up to snuff the general public finds out quickly and avoids them. Tire technology is constantly changing. I'm sure things have changed in the past 5 years. But I'm sure you can appreciate that after losing 3 tires like I did you wouldn't run out and buy another set that started with the same name?

I'll be carring a 2300 pound slide in camper someday. I may just get another set of bf goodrich. I really don't need that agrresive tread though. Just want a good highway tire.

I have a set of the Revo's, they are the best wet weather tire I have ever run. I used to spin the the michlins in the wet at highway speeds, the revo's don't budge. I can spin them at slow speeds in the wet and they howl like a normal tire does on dry pavement. They do fine on the highway, I have'nt done any snow or mud yet.

jeff, my neighbor just took off some fairly new bridgestones. They were the same size as the OEM Firestones (2000 PSD) because they heated up too much when he hauled his camper. He had one come off the rim when he got a good gust of wind from the side. Granted they were load range D, but they were rated for 3,000lbs and he may have been over that or had a slow leak. But even if that is the case he said all 4 sidewalls were very hot.

He went back to the steeltex, like the OEMs. Bad choice in my book. FWIW, I like my coopers, also load range D, and they don't heat up with my camper on the truck.

I have nothing against bridgestones I have run them on many vehicles.

My last set of tires were Bridgestone Dueler ATs (Non-Revo) got about 56,000 miles out of them. I had averaged about 40,000 on my other tires. Just replaced them with a new set of Dueler AT Revos and love them. I am running the biggest they offer the in ATs - 285/75R16. If you are looking at the 305s or 315s they are the MTs or some other style Bridgestones, the Revos are only ATs.
