Anybody willing to help me out learning about these 12v Cummins? I'm only 17 and I don't know crap about these things,I've been looking on here as much as possible but I can't figure alot of it out cause I don't even know what a certain part does, looks like etc etc Would anybody that has something like AIM,YIM,or MSN instant messenger be willing to talk to me and help me out on this stuff? When I got into the 4wd world the way I figured everything out was by just talking to people and asking tons of questions about things. So any help?

You may be able to "make a date" with somebody in the TDR chat room. PM me a list of short answer questions and I'll help you out.

Jimmy,

Welcome to the site!

One of the things that will help you learn is to get a manual and start reading it. There is a ton of information in there that will teach you about the truck. You can order one for about $70 or watch E-bay and see if you can pick one up there. Be careful cause there are people that will bid more than a new one will cost.

I don't remember the site to order the manuals but you can do a search and find the web site. If you can't find it, let me know and I'll look on my home computer tonight and see if I can find it for you.

Welcome Mopar Man1.

I also have to agree with you that it is hard to learn some things on here because some of the basic parts and principals on our trucks are barily understood, so to understand what they are saying about a part we don't even know existed, well you get the idea. Hey Pastor, I see a great opertunity here for another thread (at the top of the page, or in the FAQ area) on the basic parts on our trucks and how they work. Kinda for the newbies, or us youngsters just starting to learn about these trucks. Basicly a dictionary type thread, the name of the part, and what it does. If this already exists, please point me to it.

Mike, that is the site I ordered a 92 manual for about 5 months ago. I thought I had the info on the home computer but I guess it was on the work one. That one crashed about a month ago and I lost most of my data.

Jimmy, call them and ask for the year you need. I think that was what I had to do to get it ordered. Seems like it was $71 plus shipping.

I just ordered a 89 for my Ramchager, you just have to call and talk to a rep.

"How do I order?

Besides on-line, you may order by phone with Mastercard, Visa, American Express or Discover, call 1-800-890-4038 Monday through Friday, 8:00 a. m. to 8:00 p. m. Or, by sending a written, detailed description of your order by mail to:

Tech Authority, P. O. Box 360450, Strongsville, OH 44136.

Orders must be received with purchase order, check, money order or credit card information including expiration date. "

I could help you out, I guess, even if you are a southerner. (just ask CB about my aversion to anything southern, and my desire to get to the high country out west;) ) But, seeing as you are a youngster just starting out in yor adventures with the automobile, I guess I could make an exception ;) :D. I have a yahoo and hotmail address. Hit me with any questions you may have. One thing you will learn about this site and the 1st gen forum, especially, is that we are willing to help at a moment's notice, as long as it doesnt involve driving 1500 mi to troubleshoot a problem. Some will even do that. I heard a story of a vendor from the northeast and a little north of the 49th, driving 4 hours each way with a part for someone stuck at a campground or somewhere like that.

Wish I'd bought a CTD when I was 17. Had a chance to buy a 89 W250, auto, 3. 07, for around $4000 in 94, when I was 15. If I had known then what I know now... ... .

Hey, maybe he and CB Parker could get together- two nervous kids tearing stuff up. ;) :-laf Just kidding ya. Gotta give CB heck now and then; he can take it. Did you catch his race to 1000 posts? He clogged the server with his Fingers of Fury. BTW- the Pastor officially discourages that kind of behavior. CB's an alright guy, his heart is in the right place- more power, and get it to the ground. Smoke the ricer crowd; the more miles on the rig doing it the better. Watch for his [censored] in the months to come.....

Rumor has it that Greenleaf will travel to tinker with CTDs..... the Buckeye way... .

However he is currently grounded by Pastor Bob until he can straighten out his TDR signature... . which is temporarily on hold due to mental aguish..... :D

(ya see... he and his "gal" are currently seperated... "she's" incarcerated for a term of a few weeks in the paint shop... then gets transferred to the spring shop for a week, then back home behind bars in his barn. )

Of course that's only rumored as well... ...

He's also an insider of sorts- but I think we're supposed to be hush-hush about that- so yeah, he knows quite a bit, esp HIGH PERFORMANCE BOMBing. I just know about getting them fixed at midnight with 8 tons of hay on the trailer in 15deg with a strong wind and snow, just enough to limp home or to the restaurant so I can fix it later. Seems I never work on them in the daylight. Tried it the other day, and it felt..... WEIRD..... Hafta try it agian. This being able to see thing is kinda
