Sheesh, here I am going along all happy like, trying to keep my mind on something other than the delivery of my '02 3500 ETH (shipped nine days ago by the way :D ), and you guys go and post this thread. After reading all this I'm going to have a tough time thinking of something other than the new trucks arrival.

So how bad does the new truck expectation really get? I've already reached the point where I'm not going to bother adjusting the right side mirror (which needs adjusted) because I figure I'll have a new truck in a few days.

The anticipation is really bad, the only thing i can compare it to is when my daughter was born. I absolutely love this site and enjoy the threads, posts;) ;) ;)

contrast in feelings

On the one hand, I am very jealous of you guys with your new toys. On the other hand, my '97 looks like new and after 50 $500+ a month payments with 10 more to go I can wait to get out from under it (the payments. )

Good luck with all you toys.

New truck expectation

Mopar,

I promised myself that I'd just sit back and wait for my dealer to call when the truck arrived. But it's been about 2 years building up to this "climax" and I just can't help myself.

When I lived in Wyoming, I always drove domestic full-sized 4x4's. After moving to Colorado I bought a Toyota 4x4 and have been driving it now for 10 years. I have nothing but good things to say about the Toy (at 120K miles, it's never had anything but normal maintenance). I just always longed to be back in a "real" truck. Two years ago, I decide that I'd try to get a CTD next.

So, after two years of waiting for the planets to align and now knowing that the truck's arrival is imminent, I've broken my promise and can't sit still. I've been driving it in my head since I ordered it in early June. I can't stand driving the Toyota. I'm "jones-in" for my "real" truck. And yes, I know, I'm too old to be behaving this way!

So have you guys also stopped putting more than $10 worth of gas at a time in your old trucks? I started last week, and right now I've got 3/8ths of a tank in the '98 Ram 3500 V-10. I'm betting I can make it till trade in time without buying anymore gas :) .

Heck with the gas, I sold it.

I'm past the point of not gassing up, I've actually sold my old truck already. I'm driving the wifes vehicle until mine arrives next week. Good way to get the wife excited about my new truck coming in as she wants her car back. :) :)

Rolla CO,

DHenry

I noticed a few posts back that your truck is going to Rolla, CO. Rolla is on I-76 NE of Denver. There isn't a rail yard there so to speak, but there is an unload facility for vehicles. You can see it from I-76 rather easily. Enjoy your new rig when you get it.

When I sold my 98 Grand Cherokee, I met the buyers half way, in Cheyenne WY. When I got there I was below empty and running on fumes. I felt kind of bad that the buyers couldn't even take it for a proper test drive without putting gas in it.

Thanks for the info!

Hmmm... I wonder if the UPRR's ETA times are accurate. They say 8/17 10:32 (after adding a day to the ETA since it's been sitting in Fort Worth for the past couple of days :() If I can see it, I might just have to wander over there.

[Whoa there big Dan. Get a grip. It'll be here when it gets here. You going over there to see it get off the train is only gonna make you more antsy. Just settle down!]

Dan,

I know what you mean. Mine supposedly reached the "unload" yard at 3:00 PM last Friday. Still haven't heard Jack from the dealer. I'm tempted to call and ask if they've perhaps noticed a very large, white, noisy dually sitting in their parking lot that wasn't there last week, but I guess I'll sit here and wait it out.

Lot checks

Rusty,

Starting the day after the train arrival, I plan to check my dealer's lot daily. The dealer is relatively close and does not have any fenced-off lot areas. I've been able to go through and see other ordered trucks sitting around. As soon as it's on the lot, I intend to ask how long the prep is and when I can take possession. None of the information I get has ever originated from the dealer, so I'm going to be proactive. They'll probably be sleeping with their feet up on the desk and never know it came in unless I tell them it's there .

If it's possible for you to see yours on the lot, maybe you could get some kind of commitment out of them as to when you can take possession.

How's this for good news?

Hey Guys,

For those with 2002 trucks ordered... ..... I just got some pleasant news today. Not only did the price for the 2002's stay the same as the 2001's but there is a $1000 rebate on 2002's. Make sure you get it and the dealer doesn't keep it. I called another dealer to verify that my dealer was correct in telling me I get a $1000 rebate on my new 2002 and the other dealer was reluctant to tell me about it. He kept saying "There never is rebates when they first come out". After pushing him, he came clean that the 2002's already have a rebate. Thank goodness my dealer is honest. Go Dave Smith Motors, they are the tops so far. My truck arrived at the train yard today and I'm suppose to take delevery on Friday. I'll keep you posted. :D :D :D

Mine arrived at the dealer's this afternoon - it's in the shop getting the Jacobs e-brake installed, etc. Hope to pick it up tomorrow afternoon - maybe. :D

Ray, thanks for the information regarding the $1000 rebate. I'll see how honest my dealer is when we sit down to pay for this truck.
