I was at the local cummins store the other day and bought some Penray Max Power Plus fuel additive. It cost a $1 a can. Can it be much for that price? Has anyone heard of this additive and how good is it? Also a fuel additive called BG 248? Has anyone heard of either of these additives? Thanks for the info!

Don't be deceived by the price and quantity. My buddy who drives a fuel tanker told me they add 1 gallon of antigel/algaecide to a 10,000 gallon tanker truck. The cost is less than $5.

It Stanadyne for me also. . Good stuff!!!

I too use the Stanadyne Performance Formula All Season Diesel Fuel Conditioner. I've tried them all and I like it the best. I get it in 5 gallon drums for savings. It seems they just did something to the latest batch of Diesel Fuel, because it smells more like gasoline. And it's just not one station, it's everywhere... so it's not a gasoline contamination problem. I figure they took out another important ingredient that had lubricity properties. Add your additive like clockwork at every fill up. I'm even gonna start spilling in some new engine oil into every tankful. What they take out, I'll put back in tenfold.

Chris, just to make clear to others,if you add oil to the fuel use 2 cycle engine oil,not motor oil or ATF. Motor oils&ATF are not designed to burned and will leave ash deposits that can shorten engine life.

I just got a dealer reference from the Stanadyne site. The dealer mentioned a product that he sells a lot of called Raycor. It runs $6. 23/16 oz. bottle which treats 320 gal. (!). The product claims virtually the same benefits as Stanadyne. This guy says he sells a ton of this stuff and has gotten no complaints and that Raycor is a long-time fuel additive developer. I think its worth a try and will report back after using it a while.

The company I spoke to is Promotive Power, Inc. , in Marietta, GA. , 770-427-9917, if anyone wants to investigate further. I'm sure other vendors sell it as well.

I will stick with HOWES products. The engine sounds quieter and the milage is up about 1-1. 5 mpg. I have tried Stanadyne, and didnt notice anything different than without it. I would like to try some of Lubrication Engineers stuff, but they only sell it by the case. I cant find anyone to sell it to me by the bottle. .

Mag-Hytec will sell by the bottle, but buy several to save on shipping. However, the LE DCI+ bottle does not say whether or not it adds any lubricity, which is my main reason for adding it. Also, it talks about "preserves fuel quality in storage", but never uses the word "biocide". Same story on the LE web site. I plan to search the old posts, but if anyone knows for sure what the DCI+ formula does, and does not do, please speak up. (Oil Man? Care to repeat your past comments? Is the new 2400 DCI+ the same as the old DCI+, or are there significant changes/improvements?)

Found the old posts seaching on "dci".
Mag-Hytec will sell you any amount you wish. 1-818-786-8325
Oil Man says DCI+ has ~3 lube additives; but it seems strange their marketing doesn't mention that. Also he suggested going with 1/2 dose if you get a lot of water in fuel, because our tanks don't have drains like the big rigs. Smaller amounts, I gather the water drops out in our filter where we can drain it...
