BF Goodrich just came out with a new Mud terrain in sizes that work well for us. Not only do they do the 265/75 r16's but they also do :

255/85r16

285/75r16

305/70r16

315/75r16 for all us 2500 SRW's

Check them out http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/catalog/mud_terrain.pdf

(You need Adobe to view)

Has anyone tried them yet? I'm thinking about getting the 305/70R16's but they might be a little to wide but they are slightly shorter than my 295's. :)

I had the old MT's and they were pretty quiet compared to most. I was wondering how these stacked up.

I should have mine next monday. I am getting 255/85R16 along with MT classics from NTW. I talked to them today and I'll have them Monday. I'll let you know after the hunt how they worked out.

also 18's

This tire is also ava in35/12. 5/18

wouldn't that look *****en on our CTD's

I dont have the ratings on the 18's yet but i will be looking into them. Also the 305's will not be wider than the 295's by any great degree so go with them if that is your desire.

off to bfg's wedsite for some investigative research

I wonder if anyone makes 17" or 18" Wheels for our trucks. I checked Weld & Mickey Thompson and didn't see them listed. Weld has those new EVO's but not in our Bolt pattern. Good thing too... ... They start around $480  :(

Based on what a friend of mine said about these sizes (He's in the tire biz) They fill the wheel wells real well and make the rolling weight lighter for better mileage.

Yes!

Yes they do! Mickey Thompson/Alcoa make a 17x8 with an 8 on 6. 5" bolt pattern in their Classic style (forged version, not the newer cast, Classic II series). I was considering this size/wheel even though I preferred the looks of the M/T Alcoa Challengers... that is until I found out there was only one suitable tire that would fit (and have the proper load rating at the time)... the 37" tall BFG Baja T/A tire which was designed for the Hummer. That tire was too tall for my liking and at $450. + per tire (:eek: ), I figured I'd stay with the 16" wheels. The remainder of the 17" tires I'd found only had a C rating... not nearly enough for our behemouths.

I just had a set installed on the PSD two weeks ago. They were all backordered for a while, but they are starting to get to market now. I run the 255/85/16's. The pattern has changed a little from my last set of the old style. They are quieter and a little bit more aggresive on the edge of the sidewall. There is a rubber bead around the rim now which is suppose to help with keeping rocks and what ever else tries to get in the rim. I ordered them from my local Discount Tire at $140. 00 a piece... MacTruck, I was looking at the BFG MT KT last night... They look like they will perform really well, but I guess only time will tell. I'm interested in anew set of sneakers for mine. HMM, secisions, decisions,

I'm going to throw another one in here. I was tossing around the BFG's and the Pro Comp tires. but with both being new to the market (by either Brand or version) I dont know what to do.

anyone heard of the Pro Comp tires and how they do? I see they have a 50,000 mile warranty on the AT's but I will go for the MUD Terrains.

I was just looking at the 285/75/16 for my rig today at costco. I have ran Bfg's for years. The load rating is what I am concerned about. Will a rating of D be O. K. ? I was told by a local tire geek that my truck would destroy a D rated tire.....

Greg, I have not done any research into the new MT's but I can tell you that the AT KO tire in 285/75/16 D rated tire has a HIGHER load rating than the 245/75/16 E rated tire. This is a fact that you can verify on their website. There are always some that say load rating letter is the determining factor, but they are wrong. The weight capacity of the tire in question is THE factor.

Todd, I would double-check on that 50,000 mile warranty... I know they offer it, but a year ago, right after the pro comps came out, I talked to my (then) local 4WPW, and they told me my truck would not qualify for the warranty because it weighed too much. This guy could have been mistaken, but he lost a sale for it (went with the 285 BFG AT's). Company's make all kinds of clauses that exempt vehicle's from warranties like that, just make sure before ya buy anything!
