The other day I was out walking the neighborhood and found a Matco 9GRCXL10M2 10mm combination wrench with a 90 tooth ratcheting box end. Naturally I pocketed that puppy and was extremely giddy when I got home and looked it up and saw the price ($43). A 10mm anything is a good find for a 3rd Gen. Because I'm big on occasionally greasing all my ratcheting tools I examined it to see how to open it up. There is a set screw on the side of the box end, but the screw is covered with an amber colored resin. I don't know if Matco does this for their tools, or the unfortunate mechanic who lost it did it to keep the set screw from falling out. If Matco does this by design I'm going to leave it as it is. But if the guy who lost it did it I'll probably use a Dremel to clean it out and get access to the set screw. Anyone here know enough about Matco hand tools to tell me if they do this on purpose?
Thanks.
