Upon Kai's recommendation, i also have the destroked.com kit in my truck. By far, the best guy to deal with. It went together perfectly, like factory. Absolutely worth it to buy his kit, which i believe is now available from dealers such as ATS. Unfortunately, i bought my first bad kit from cumminsstuff.com who has to be the worst of all of them. My BTS was also clearanced, though it shouldn't affect its integrity at all.
I have also dealt with autoworldmt.com. Bought a bunch of parts from them this summer and though they promised answers and instructions after months of emails and phone calls, they never came through. Roger was far more informative over the phone.
Autoworld really couldn't answer much and would tell me contradictory things like sending wiring instructions that were different, multiple times, yet for exactly the same engine. Required going back and forth trying to clear up mistakes. They were always behind, delayed shipping, didn't tell me costs, just charged me, made it hard to be happy. I had high expectations but had to give up on them.
Its true, autoworld does not use Ford automatics in their conversions. I had originally wanted an Allison 1000 and they always urged me to either put a manual in my Excursion, or a Chrylser transmission. Fortunately, my engine mounts were made better what tigdiesel received, but still off as the mounts put the turbo against the HVAC so some lines had to be relocated. They weren't sure if they'd sent me the right mounts so they described what they should look like to me over the phone.
Destroked is awesome. The flex plate is probably indestructible, guaranteed to a good 1,000 hp. Surpasses SFI specifications. Wish his kit had been available this summer. After going through the quagmire other folks have put me through since summer, i have yet to even hear my Cummins start. Only 5 days left, but i hope to have it on the road by Christmas. This project sure didn't go the way everyone assured me it would. Seemed like such a simple idea. I'll post when it done.
