Ok, I figure that my APPS is going south, big time dead petal that comes and goes. This is my 3rd dead APPS on this truck in 10 years/200k miles. No codes shown on my scan tool, otherwise truck runs fine. Disconnected Edge from pump/MAP no change, Anyone have any ideas? Also who has the best deal/quality for a aftermarket APPS.

Thanks

Kyle

Just took the truck out to the dump to drop off trash (we are in the country no trash service) and truck ran fine, no dead petal. get home and checked codes and came up with a P0234 which is an over boost code. I still have the Edge Comp completely unhooked. So now whats up are the dead petal and the Map sensor related? also temps here have gotten cold, yesterday it was 72 degrees, today it is in the mid 40s. how does this factor in, could the APPS be sentive to temp?

Kyle

Yea I know, mid 40s in January, I spent 23 years in the snow belt in Muskegon Michigan, can you say lake effect? ;)

If you have bigger injectors and a bigger turbo and you removed the boost fooler (Edge Box), you have the fuel and air available to build more boost than the computer is programmed to expect.

Also, as stated above, Blue Chip has some very good troubleshooting steps for the dead pedal. They are also continuously being updated, so check again even if you read through them a year ago.

I called Blue Chip, and felt like I got a sales pitch for a new injection pump. The new APPS got here today (haven't installed it yet) but I have been checking other systems out. I pulled the map sensor to check and does anyone know the resistance value between pins on the map sensor? I am reading 44. 09 k ohms between center/outside pin and the other outside pin reads 55. 42k ohms, outside pins read 2. 2k ohms. My old/extra MAP sensor reads 11. 42k ohms, 12. 72k ohms, 1. 47k ohms. My scan software is showing 15 psi boost at idle? I use Autoenginuity Scan tool software with enhanced chrysler module, i can do just about anything with it including shutting down/load testing each cylinder.

Also I did a rpm to APPS voltage comparison which showed the APPS voltage followed the same graft perfectly as the rpms until 1850 rpms and then both APPS voltage and RPMs both begain float. RPMs drifted 50 to 75 rpms. I am hoping that this is pointing to the APPS. Any ideas? I will get the new APPS installed Saturday and run the same tests.

Lastly I am now smelling diesel fuel under the hood, still looking for the leak, nothing obvious showing yet.

I really haven't been under the hood in a couple of years, have my son change oil and filters, and I just drive it. last major repair New VP44 at 240k miles and a new harmonic balancer (fluidampr) rubber in the old one was falling out.

Got into it today, started with changing out the OEM fuel filter and found loose chunks of filter material stuck in the oem filter. I guess they came down from the FASS 150 filter? Also in the bottom of the oem filter housing I found lots more filter pieces and some brown goo like substance? This blows my mind, I have always used WIX Gold filters, anyone had problems with WIX lately? Cleaned out filter housing, installed new filter. I hope none of that made it into the injection pump. I also had to replace the O-rings on the filter purge valve, had fuel leaking from it. Could have the VP44 pulled in air from that leak causing dead petal? I also checked the VP 44 main connector for corsion, all good. Hooked everything up, reset the ECM, runs perfect on all Edge modes. Installed my spare MAP sensor (one with lower resistance readings) Still have not installed the new APPS. So I am going to run it like this and see what happens, I hope cleaning up the mess in the fuel filter and the leak fixed cures my problems.

any more ideas?
