Look at it this way; Dodge didn't put a filter before the factory pusher pump. Of course that could be a factor as to why there are so many failiures...
But typically you'll want to put a filter before the pump. That way any junk from the tank will get stuck in the filter instead of adding wear to your $150 pump.
Injectors? Very subjective. You probably won't feel one step up. And if you do jump up to something worth the upgrade, like say Mach 4's (again, subjective, just my opinion), you'll need the supporting hardware to go with (bigger turbo or twins, studs, possibly o-rings or fire rings, possibly additional transmission mods).
So, like the saying goes; speed costs money - how fast do you want to go?
