Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) at fluid price

I was at the local dealer the other day to get some parts. The parts guy quoted me AT FLUID at $19. 20 a guart. HONEST TO GOD is this true. 2002 2500 is what i drive, is there any other good fluid I can use??

amsoil universal atf+4 is less than 9. 00 qt.



I've been running amsoil for over 2 years and its great

Buy it in the gallons. I think I paid about 18. 25 a gallon at Buerge Chrysler. The parts guy tried to sell me quarts also, and I insisted on a case of Gallons and he got all huffy... asked me what I was driving. I told him. He looks at his computer screen for a little while, then went back and got me a case of Gallons without saying anything more.

Dextron 3 is great unless you have a shuddering problem. And is cheap at wallmart. atf +4 is hard on a transmission. It has alot of friction modifyer in it.

Sorry... the $18. 25 per Gallon price is what I paid for ATF +3, type 7176

I was told by several dtt people that atf + 4 will cause faster wear. Becouse it is leting the clutches/bands to slip more to reduce shuddering.



I have also been told to run dexton 3 in my dtt trans (By JH perf). And also my other one if it doesnt shudder (by Bill K).

If ramman runs mercon there is a very good chance that he will be voiding his warranty by not using an approved fluid.

Thanks for all the responces, thats the problem I'm still under the warranty. I checked it yesterday and the fluid was on pink like I was expecting, found a website that said the fluid won't be pink, but will be darker so not to worry, but I'm stillshocked about the price even for a gallon. thanks again.
