Hi, been chasing this issue ever since I replaced rotors and pads, all 4 corners. Ended up taking it to a shop that has a reputation for good diagnostics and he can't figure it out. Had it in Friday and replaced the right front wheel sensor and harness and it didn't go out. Still has it. At the same time this happened the 4wd light started to come on and off when in 2wd but 4wd is fully operational; vacuum lines are in tact. Mechanic thinks this is coincidental it happened at the same time as the brake/ABS light. Just trying to get more info to feed him, he is as lost as me on it! I'm hoping it gets done by the time I get back from Lynchburg

Mechanic has an obdIII scanner for abs codes. Rear wheel sensor checks out ok. Speedometer is functioning normally.

Already pulled the panel and found that the bulbs that activate brake and ABS are not removable! Brakes are fine, just hate the lights on, too nice a truck to have error messages all over the gauge cluster!

my abs/brake light came on and didnt throw any codes and speedo was working fine i changed the abs sensor on the rear axle and the lights went off. just a thought. sounds like you checked everything else.

Something that I have noticed on a couple trucks that had rear axle sensor issues is that the speedometer may be a little slow to return to 0 when stopping. If you come to a stop the speedometer may read 5 and then slowly drop to 0. The sensor was broke off in both cases.

I haven't noticed any issues with the speedometer. Got the truck back today, codes haven't been cleared yet, determined his scanner wouldn't work. Getting a new one next week. The drivers side abs sensor was replaced, and now that brake assembly heats up and smokes! I'm not going to tear into it since I never had any issues with it before it was at the shop. I am not noticing rotor warp or heat cracks yet but don't like fairly new rotors getting burnt up. What could cause this issue now? Always something

My issue is the rear wheel connector on top of rear diff. mine breaks connection. though it looks connected, it's not. ended up eliminating connector, had no other problems.

Just a follow up to my debacle. Finally solved, mechanic had to put both front wheel sensors on to clear the lights. Not sure why changing rotors would cause this, maybe from beating on the old ones with a sledge, I don't know. Anyways, wish I would've paid the dealer to read the codes and do the work myself because it cost $400+ for the sensors labor and diagnostics. Atleast it's done and I have new rotors all around, new calipers new brake hoses and new abs harness"

ObdIII scanners are pretty pricy, $2k+. I certainly researched that option. I know a guy who bought a cheaper OBDIII scanner for $500 and it would not even clear the abs codes on his truck.

Well as several folks say suggested I replaced the rear abs sensor and now lights are out! Wish I would've taken that advice over a year ago! The mechanic at the diesel shop I recently had truck at told me that was my issue said I would swap it out.
