After buying a case (of oil) because I was told it replaces +3 and installing it I read on the bottle its a full synthetic. So now I've got a torque convertor full of +3 and a pan full of +4. Should I be searching for what Dodge recommended in 2000 for my 110K Dodge transmission?

I believe that +4 is compatable with all previous fluids as is +3 compatible with all fluids prior to it. Best be safe and make a call to one of the major trans outfits, ATS for example. They will tell you for sure, but doing trans services on the older 96's etc. +3 is used for them also.

24v you mean as far as if synthetics are recommended? My reason for concern is i've heard certain blends aren't good for certain metals IE. +4 in a xfer case isn't recommended because of its corrosive behavior twards yellow metals. I am trying to make sure there isn't something like that about an auto also. They say the 4 replaces the 3, maybe in an auto thats ok, but my xfer case that i've been putting 3 in has brass in the synchros, only small amounts but if its harmfull for it i'm not going to use it.

Also i'm not familiar with the effects of mixing synthetic with non synthetic as I just did.

Yours and everyone else’s trans have brass in them to not just the t-case! I don’t know who told you, you couldn't use +4 in your t-case but DC does..... ……. . The +4 will work just fine with your trans and mix just fine with the +3. I just wouldn’t put it in a modified truck pushing some good HP!

Hey guys, I work at a Dodge dealership and DCX has discontinued +3 fluid so as soon as the old stock is used up all that will be available is +4. So I'll go out on a limb here and say that it shouldn't be an issue to mix them. I never heard anything about not mixing them at any of the factory auto trans classes I've been to so I say mix away!

I noticed the same thing last week when I bought some +4, so I called a connection I had at Valvoline. He said there were no issues with mixing +3 with the new full synthetic +4
