Don are you guys coming to may madness? What better of an opportunity to showcase your products vs. all the big name guys. I believe Jim fuller, Lawrence, Mark Flinn, Joe D, Steve Covalt, My Dad, and I'm sure the will be alot more that I don't know of. Pickin on a guy like kevin who has an EZ, and DD2's ain't fair. If he breaks he's out of pocket, if all us sponsored trucks break it's no big deal. What do you think? There is even drag racing there? I would be very interested see how you would compare to Diesel Dynamics not Kevin Arts. They build power, they don't buy it like kevin. I just don't see the point you challenging kevin even if you win what would that prove.

I hope people don't take this the wrong way, I'm not trying to start a fight.

Don M,

The 600 was corrected at 5000+ ft of elevation.

Uncorrected low-mid 5's. They actually want to break 550 before getting radical with the turbos.

I think they can do it.

Hi Mark,

Was it a Mustang? The number sounds kinda high and 600 is very hard to get to. Very Hard!!! If they did it then I will be the first to congrat. them. Its just hard to believe cuz I know how hard it is to do. 600 does not fall outta the sky Bud.

Don~

I find it interesting how everyone says that the ATS triple lok can't or won't work. I can hammer the heck out of the lock-up clutch from low rpm with the PE Comp on max and it just will not slip. The only slippage I get is from the tires. The rear tires are looking kind of thin. :D

The fact of the matter is that it does work. If it didn't hold up, how could they offer a 3 year warranty?

I'd like to see you guys get whipped like a red headed hairlipped step child;) all in good fun of course:D:D

Good strip brawls are exciting!!!!!!

he broke both of the mustangs...

Mark, Im not chosing sides or whatever. I have a stick. Auto's are too easy for me (-: So I dont give a crap if the transmissions are frickin gold plated.

The thing that caught my eye was the 600HP number. After seeing Mustang and 5000ft correction factor it all makes more sense now.

Does anyone know if ATS is gonna go to MM? We could see the HP comparisons then with a dynojet. All the trucks on the same dyno. Coated pistons and all!

Don~

how about it don?

a little trip over to may madness to get your butt kicked by my bd transmission. :D

i'm just messing with you but it would be great to see you down there. all this bs could be put to rest in about 12sec. i will be there and so will some others that stefan mentioned. there is no bs when your at the track, the fastest guy wins.

this is why i went to a auto so we could forget about the dyno *****ing and settle it on the strip or the sled track.

if you do real good it could be the best advertising you will ever get, but if not. when you and i race i will only use #2. i will leave my other 200hp off.

i think the races are on may 4th i bet clint would give you friday off to come kick my butt. :p

Hey Jim, finally committed to coming to MM02 huh? Bout time! Oh, and unfortunately the local track isn't open for a test and tune that weekend. :(

Wondering just what this means...

I'm not exactly understanding it. It does not appear to be anything discussed here recently. For one, it's not a billet front converter...

ah, you preach my religion brother!:D

PowerWagon,

The first picture is of the back of the converter. The bottom is the billet front cover. If you look down the side of the converter you'll come to a thick portion of metal. This is where the billet piece starts.

The second picture I believe shows spot welding. Most quality converters are furnace brazed. You can also see a great deal of splatter that you often get with welding. It doesn't look like it was cleaned after welding. A simple wire brush would knock off most of the splatter. But I guess it will come off eventually inside your transmission!

The third picture is a stock milled stator. I thought we all passed this years ago. Let me quote from the service manual for those that don't have one.

STALL TEST ANALYSIS:

Stall speed too Low:

Low stall speed with a properly tuned engine indicates a torque converter overrunning clutch problem. The condition should be confirmed by road testing. A stall speed 250-350 rpm below normal indicates the converter overrunning clutch is slipping (or milled down). The vehicle also exhibits poor acceleration but operates normally once highway cruise speeds are reached.

So basically, we can sacrifice torque mulitplication to get fluid coupling to come in at a lower rpm. It's right there in the service manual. Companies have been doing it for years. It's always been profitable.

Stefan.

I didnt see anything like that when I was at ATS a few weeks ago. The TC you took pictures of doesnt look like anything on the ATS web site either. The TC you took pictures of looks round on the bottom. You do the comparison.....

On Edit... Strick-9 Regarding the milled stator... Most companies milled the bottom of the fins off. ATS doesnt mill the bottom of the fins off, but rather changes the angle of the blades. In fact, instead of having 3 options of efficiency, they can mill any angle you want into the stator. If you dont like this, they have a CNC milled one piece stator made out of a single block of metal. In this case, there are no welds at all, and you can get any angle or level of efficiency you want. Just tell them what you want, and the machine will make any stator design YOU specify. Speaking of TC efficiency and stator design. Most people get an 89 or 91% efficient TC from DTT. At what RPM is this valid? Is it possible to be at the same level of efficiency through the entire RPM band? I dont think so... The ATS stator design allows the stator to produce efficient multiplication at a LOW RPM without having to ride your brakes through a school zone. By doing this, they get the best of both worlds. Good torque multiplication through a narrow RPM range, then kick into lockup before the stator looses its max efficiency. You can tell them the RPM range you want to work in, and they will make the stator for your application.

Remember the game show, To Tell the Truth?

I agree!

I disagree!

Pretty pictures don't mean squatolies, I had a wonderful picture of a Sachs clutch. ---- Fail.

No more I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER chat!!!

Don't tell me something will fail because it looks like it on paper.

Don't tell me something makes 600hp "on paper"

TO THE TRACK!!!!!!!!!!!!
