I also asked Ats about the pics with no answer.

I hopt that this isn't an indication of how they would treat you if warranty work was needed!

SO... ATS can you answer questions that have been asked severel time by now? so far I have an open mind but am begining to wonder ... ...

I was wondering the exact same thing, to me it does look like the inside of the ATS cover, if you look at the notches around the rim and inside and compare that to the outside of an ATS cover it looks similar. Also in this picture of the ATS clutches (if I'm wrong on the manufacturer of these parts please say so!) you can see the same aarow as in above, of couse I'm just brainstorming and it is very possible that I am mistaken.

What picture is that? I haven't seen anything remotely resembling the description of the ATS innards.

The edges don't look like anything familiar at all. That's why I'm asking. Just want to know what part it is.

Is that an ATS TC

Come ON CCannon or Dramer or what about Renee???????

Has the I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER hit the fan or what ??????

Potential future Customer's(??) are waiting for a reply :)

My 2 cents.....

Well, to throw in my 2 cents worth to promote this thread toward making it to 9 pages (HEY who knows, maybe we can surpass the 3 word story thread).....

We all have to make the best decisions we can for what we want the truck to do. For many of us (dare I say MOST of us) another consideration is longevity. We want our trucks and the parts in them to last. I honestly hope the ATS stuff works out. Maybe it will and maybe it won't. The fact is that we can all go back and forth about it as much as we want to on the computer and it doesn't matter. It will either be the "Next Great Thing" or just fall by the wayside. I am glad that there are guys on this forum who have bought it, that way we will get a REAL WORLD test of how the stuff holds up. You see, I think all the drag racing stuff is fun and impressive and shows off some of what a product like this is capable of. However, in the longevity category, I think it is much much harder on an automatic to be pulling heavy loads day in and day out especially in hot climates, than it is drag racing with them. Some guy's got his 32ft gooseneck double decked with sheep and it's 100* outside and he's hitting the bottom of every hill with his rpm's barely in the 1650 area and rolls that throttle to the floor day in and day out, we'll see what will and will not last. If the ATS stuff holds up, great if not we will all know in probably a year or so. Remember, very few people buy a Cummins diesel to drag race with. As far as myself, I still believe I bought the best product for a combination of performance and reliablity. I think that there are just limits of what you are going to get out of an automatic transmission. If 100% power transfer is absolutly essential I think a person should probably buy a standard. Bottom line, only time will tell.

voice of reason dan

Oh, if any of this doesn't make sense, I've been taking double shots of Nyquil trying to get over this flu bug so just bear with me

Maybe ATS would answer this:

1. Do you guys weld your joints on your TC's or furnace braze them?

2. Is that a picture of a broken TC componenet from your company?

3. Is the picture with the splattered welding a picture of your converter front cover? It does appear to have a tad of purple colored paint on it and the arrow matches the one in the other picture that Mark Kendrick put up earlier. Dimensionally the picture that is put up does match the ATS as well.

is what interests me.

Someone tell me what part this is.

Not having seen one, or seen pictures of one, I do not recognize this part as matching descriptions of the triple lock converter.

One last comment. If these are only a a month or two old, and failed ,why did the owner/user not get warranty?

Thist is a close-up of an old style piston like the one I posted.

early piston design...

Not to start an argument here, but this is mostly a technical discussion. Exactly what "stand" is needed?

One does not need to have a "stand" to ask questions about what someone posts here. Those pictures were posted pretty much without explanation of why... or who's they are.

The pictures Stefan posted pretty much served only to raise questions about what it means why it was done. Are they instructive? If so, how? Do they demonstrate something? If so, I'd like to see it. I asked Stefan in the chat room and he refused to answer in that medium, so this is a reminder, I hope, for him to clear it up.

Bob,

Its really not clear who you meant that for. No I do not have money to throw away. It is a long story on the how and why I got the ticket.

The voice of reason has spoken......

... and I gotta admit you floored me Dan! When I saw you had posted I ran over here like a shot to see what witticisms (is that even a word?) you'd unleashed on the unsuspecting masses-and then you ruined it with a serious post :D... .

But you raised some very valid points-especially the one about "We all have to make the best decisions we can for what we want the truck to do. " I don't have an automatic-so I guess I really shouldn't even be over here in this thread. If I did have one-I would be shooting my money to DTT-because *I* feel their setup is the best... . notice the emphasis on I. I don't presume to be God himself dictating to everyone else what they should or shouldn't buy for their truck (although once a get a few beers under my belt it may seem that way :D ). This stuff costs lots of $$$-nobody wants to see an acquaintance spend it on something that doesn't give the bang for the buck-and I think that's where a lot of the emotion comes into these type of threads. Stake's got the ATS stuff in his truck-he says it works great and I believe him. More power to him-it's a free world (at least in this part of the world anyways) and he can run what he wants. I don't think anybody would wish bad luck on him because he bought something different than what they would have..... I could be wrong though. Let's try to leave the emotion out of things-if for no other reason then to keep everybody's posting privileges intact.....

I think Stefan is probably waiting for either Don or Clint to step up to the plate here and tell us what these pictured parts are. I know I'd like to see them answer a few questions here from some of the smarter guys. So how about it ATS? Are you gonna field these questions or leave them lay and let the pics do the talking?

Jason

The posts back a little ways that are about 10 minutes apart berating ATS for not taking the time to answer questions are total BS!! Come on guys, get a grip!! Did you stop to think that maybe Don and Clint may have taken their families out for dinner, or simply did not have the time to sit here waiting for you to ask a question? They will get to it, and answer it. I would ask that a little courtesy is shown, and that it should apply to all on every thread. The personal garbage is uncalled for as well. These threads get juvenile in a hurry, it surprises me that the vendors will even make time for this stuff.

OK, off my soap box.
