Interesting findings after Dyno Days - Pressure Relief Valve Failures

ATS called me and said that they want me to bring my truck in to have the smaller turbo tweaked on. I think he said something about a new housing that might help me to get off the line a little faster with a spool up from a dead stop. He also wants me to try his xcellerator and edge juice to compare it to my cuurent setup (tst and edge ez).

I spoke to Mark at TST about the twins program and he thought it might not help my issue. He says the twins program adds more fuel on the bootom end. When I told him that I had black smoke rolling out of my exhaust before spool up that he thought I seem to be getting plenty of fuel on the bottom end.

ATS is thinking that I may have too big of injector nozzles, which seems strange to me being that they were a mild 85hp injector????

After I get my turbo worked on and try out their programmer and box I will let you all know the seat of my pant results and maybe some dyno numbers!!

i had a similar issue to what u have when i installed my twins, i had major lag time making it difficult to drive around town and worthless for towing, i tried stacking diff boxes only to find minimal gains, i tweaked the top turbo for months with no real difference in spool up, the tst twins box was worth it, but they still didnt spool like i wanted, just before i was going to do the cam, i decided to throw some injectors at it, i ended up doing inj, cp-3, and rail relief then i got a two stage snow kit just in case i needed it, the only thing i didnt put on ''YET'' is the snow, my top turbo is an hx-40 with a 16 ex housing, what a difference the injectors made, tst on 3x2 blow offs at 60psi, spoolup is now faster than a stock fueled stock truck, i drive around town with the tst on 0-0 and drivability is great. i dont know what turbo setup or elevation u are at but i am at 5-6000 ft i dont believe anyone would need more than a tst twins box untill a better cp-3 or cp-4 comes out to the public, the tst and injectors will drain a rail real quick, you can see it happening while watching the pyro just shoot up faster than the speedometer you can feel the power start to drop and egts scream past 1600, i currently spike to about 1275 or so than quickly drops to a sustained 1100-1150 egt at 60 psi, the only thing that starts to warm up now is the coolant... good luck getting them dialed in and let us know the outcome

I am at about the same elevaion as you here in Colorado. ATS calls the turbos Aurora 2000 and Aurora 5000. As far as any technicalities I am not sure. Sounds like you love those Piers twins! Thats awesome you got yours dialed in.

what size injectors made all of this difference? I just want my truck to launch like it did with the stock turbo!

industrial injection 3-flows, i am not sure how much h. p. probably around 100 or close too, it will make 41 psi of boost with injectors only, tst 0-0, i only put the ramifier on if i am going to sled pull, but i think it will lose some top end cause the rail runs dry faster... . give brady a call at 801-972-0476 ;)

i should have gone with a 14cm ex housing on the hx-40, but i opted for the 16 cause i plan on running a decent shot of nitrous and eventually propane when i get the extra funding, the lower turbo is an ht3b with a 26cm exhaust housing, also i run 5'' straight pipe, no muffler including piers 5'' down pipe. . :D

Injectors for twins

Who's injectors did you use and how much? Were they exchange?

they were exchange, they are industrial injections 3-flows, their  price is listed on their website although i paid less. .

Here is some more aspect, your map sensor controls your bottom end fuel, lag is getting everyone with a HCPR.

and this is why a decent set of injectors will help reduce turbo lag.

I have a set of 85hp injectors from ATS. Seems to me that my spool time would be faster. Do you think I should remove my Edge EZ? Is there a big difference between it and the TS Ramifier?

with a decent size of inj. you shouldnt ever need a pressure box the cp-3 already cant even come close to keeping up with a tst twins box, keep the tst ez stack, just get bigger injectors, or get a smaller ex housing for the top turbo...

Pls answer the second part of my question.

I don't have twins - I was just answering the part about injectors because I actually dynoed them. As far as lag - the cam helps more on that - more airflow = more fuel added earlier. I guess the injectors would somewhat help too since more fuel is probably being injected for a given boost level as controlled by the right foot. I seem to remember TCluff stating in this or another thread that the injectors helped quite a bit for him as compared to before his injector install. He is one happy camper now!

What HP were they?? Are you saying you feel they were the major contributor to eliminating the lag from your ATS twins setup?
i have piers twins, i am confident the injectors are what really helped me out with the turbo lag
