anybody running ats's valet switch? their ad says you can turn off the extra power with a flip of the switch. if so how does this work and will it improve fuel mileage in the off position? thanks john

it blocks boost from the AFC by use of a solenoid. if afc doesnt get boost it cant move forward.

im not sure about mileage. i could only assume better but i do have an additional question.

if boost is blocked how well will the truck run? i make 5psi @ 55mph empty, so obviously it needs that much to overcome wind and weight.

is it adjustable or something?

you will still make 5psi at 55, Your afc wont see boost though, and the AFC foot wont advance, which holds back fueling on the top end.
I run a PDR A. K. A. Pac-brake Valet, same principal.

Valet

I have a Valet switch on mine.

It works great as a Valet switch.

I actually noticed 1 to 2 mpg less when in "Valet" low power mode.

Only thing I can figure is I get more power to get up to speed quicker thus using less fuel.

I haven't turned on the Valet on in a long time.

With my combo I have to control smoke with my right foot.

I did spend a lot of time fine tuning to AFC adjustment.

When I run the Star wheel full loose I get a ton of smoke when taking off with my foot in it.

I just tightened the star wheel up till the smoke cleared.

This gave me the best fuel milage with my combo.

I put the Pac-Brake one on mine, and I wish I hadn't. With the switch in valet mode, the truck seems to lug a lot, and EGTs get high pretty quick. This was the reason I wanted the switch in the first place. If I let anyone borrow it, they couldn't run EGTs too high. Also, maybe I have the solenoid in a bad spot, but if I drove for a while, the solenoid would overheat and put itself in valet mode. I ended up just taking it out.

I have the Pac Brake set up.

I love it, I can run with my plate slid forward while towing. I fuel pretty heavy and the Valet helps big time, I get at least 2 mpg better with it on and the smoke factory ain't as bad.

It drops my EGT's about 200 degrees while getting up to speed empty or loaded. I didn't notice much at first whan I had everything slid back. Went back to my "fun" settings and the valet switch is very helpfull while towing or cruising around town when your not playing and need slower EGT building. It tames my EGT's a good bit.
