I have been pondering about what transmission set up would provide the best performance both solo and when towing. A manual is great for pulling, but does not take off as quick as an automatic (in general). I think adding an autoshifting Gear Vendors gear splitter to the automatic would allow the engine to operate at less torque since the rpm drop between shifts is much less. Also, the GV would accelerate faster because the engine is operating in a higher rpm band (more hp) han without.
I would be interested in comments about this set up. Please give ring & pinion ratio and any mods made to the engine or transmission.
I think a dream set up for pulling and solo would be a 4. 11 ratio, 91% DTT tc/vb, a GV, and an engine output above 350 hp.
