Hey guys, Whats a good quality fluid that I can find at either Napa or Walmart for my trans. Theyre the only places around here and I really dont want to pay the dealerman anymore. Thanks in advance.

I tried the penzoil atf+3 blend that you get from there and it lasted about 10,000 miles and i started to get shudder from the converter... . I am sticking with the dealer. I get it here for under 5$ a quart and you will pay 8 or better for amsoil... . Just my thoughts

Thanks, yea plowing in the winter is just plain hard on it and I just want the thing to last a while. I looked around for amsoil and I cant get it here anyway. Thanks for the info. Maybe Ill have to stick with what Im using.

Hmmmm ? I changed my fluid about 2k ago with advance brand ATF3. Only first thing in the morning i get the shudder now. When i bought the truck 30k ago, it had the Torque Converter replaced. So the chances on the TC being bad is slim. Hmmmm maybe i should go and get the gooooooood stuff, cya fellas!

Hey Dezilplow... Where in AK are you? I am in Kodiak. I run Quaker ATF3+ in my truck. When I get around to changing out my Auto transmission fluid I will use Quaker ATF+ for a lack of anything better here. At Walmart it costs about $2. 11 per quart.

Hope this helps.

I read some threads a couple of years back when I needed to change my original ATF on the 01. 5. I just put in Dexron III with one quart of 5W-30 SYNTHETIC motor oil per change. The truck has over 100,000 miles on it and is doing fine. I tow 8,000 lbs of travel trailer through the mountains of Mexico and up to Illinois and back a couple of times a year. I change the ATF often, about every 15,000-20,000 miles... it always looks fine, but it is cheap insurance against a failure.

Dexron III

Just got done with the DTT full monty. They guys at the Transmission shop recommended Dexron III. DTT recommends Dodge's fluid because they have to. However I was told Bill runs Dexron III in his rig.

Well, I decided to go ahead and use the dealers oil. Not so much for quality since there are lots of good oils out there but because if I have any problems in the future with my trans, I like the fact that I can show Ive been using their oil purchased from them. At least till it goes out of warranty.
