My '97 transmission has a shudder when shifting into OD and, since I pull a 5er, I am planning to do a SunCoast rebuild (no DTT dealers in area). (After rebuild I plan to increase to about 400rwhp and add exhaust brake).

Because I may upgrade to a 12. 5K - 14K 5er, WHICH, IF ANY OF THE FOLLOWING should I include when I do the rebuild (basic rebuild would be Pro-Loc TC and VB and DD pan, $1950 parts):

extreme duty rebuild kit, $425

billet input shaft/hub, $695

laminated flex plate, $412

Anything else I need to consider?. Thanks for any input

velsberry,

I went the triple disc route. It is very reliable & able to handle the HP & TQ you are going to put in your truck.

Finding a good rebuildman would be first. Then going there to watch & learn is next. Oo.

Good luck,

The SC Pro-Loc is a triple disk TC. My question is regarding the other transmission mods... which ones are needed for my application? Thanks.

velsberry - i too have the suncoast triple disc, first of all, youll absolutely love this thing. if youre just planning on pullin you 5th i think all you need is the converter, valve body, and rebuild kit. if you plan on being over 450rwhp, then throw a billet input shaft in. it also cheap insurance to put the billet input shaft in if you have the money. you dont need a new flexplate unless there is something wrong with your stock one.
