Spend a little more and upgrade to a modified one for better shifts and line pressure. It will also keep your torque converter charged in "Park". Off the top of my head, Suncoast, DTT, ATS, BD, Goerend or Hughes can set you up with a good VB.

Thanks for the info, I will do some reshearch sometime this weekend. Have a great Christmas and have a great new years

Dang it,
I tired to call DTT at their 866 phone number and I keep getting a message saying its not a working number.

for Bob4x4,
Hey how is Riverside, we are neighbors, I live in San Diego. I work at the National Weather Service and I am always in Riverside Co. maybe one day we can meet and have a cup of joe.

Hello,

Hey all where can I get a new Valve Body for my A518 transmission.

Thanks

If you care to do your own work, a shift kit is less than $100 and will make a huge improvement over the stocker. ;)

To realize the benefits of a custom VB you really need the whole package from the builders. Unless you are doing a total rebuild the kits are better bang for the buck. :)

The # has always worked for me. I pulled it off my cell

:-laf Riverside is a bit cool compared to our norm but much warmer than other places right now.

We have a big group going out to Glamis last wk-end in January, should be a good work out for the DTT.

I had a full DTT in my '99 and was told to always warm it up in neutral as the upgrade did not affect the "no flow in park" situation. I always checked the fluid level in neutral for the same reason.

Hey all,

Finally found a VB for the ole Dodge, next question, how much transmission fluid will be required to replace the VB?

Also is there anything special I need to know before I install the new VB?

Thanks in Advance

It's been a while since I played with a 1st gen. dropping the pan will take about 5qts. If the valve body comes down at least a qt more

Bob,

Does your memory recall anything I may need to know before I start my small job of replacing the VB? Do I need any special tools? Any adjustments required after the install? etc. .

Cheers

No special tools. I would have a new selector shaft seal and replace that when you drop the VB. If you are getting an aftermarket valve body you should not have to adjust the line pressure or throttle pressure.

Shift transmission into NEUTRAL.

Raise vehicle.

Remove gearshift and throttle levers from shaft of valve body manual lever.

Disconnect wires at park/neutral position switch.

Disconnect wires at park/neutral position switch and solenoid case connector

Position drain pan under transmission oil pan.

Remove transmission oil pan and gasket.

Remove fluid filter from valve body.

Remove bolts attaching valve body to transmission case.

Lower valve body enough to remove accumulator piston and springs.

Work manual lever shaft and electrical connector out of transmission case. Then lower valve body, rotate it away from case, pull park rod out of sprag, and remove valve body
