I thought this thread was about 6sp vs. Auto, not Viper vs. Vette. :-{}

I personally love my 6spd. I don't even notice it anymore, and I sit in 2 hours worth of traffic in good ole southern California every day. :D

With Grandpa driving a Maybach 57, why are you worried about money - yours or anyone else's? :confused:

My bad. Vette vs Viper threads can go on forever. BTW, I don't think Vipers come with automatics. :D

So basically you're admitting your immaturity flat out? :-laf ;) XC we know you are a young guy but come on, get some perspective. First of all, if you have the money to drop on a vette or viper, 3-4 k isn't a concern. Secondly it would generally be assumed if you have that type of money, you have reached a level of success and maturity that you dont consider things like 'smoking a vette' . Thats for 16 year old boys who think burning rubber in parking lots is cool. . :rolleyes: They're both fast cars, and this discussion comparing them is pointless.

So hasselbach, whats up with that fanny pack? :) :-laf ;) Did you get a clearly better automatic trans put in your viper or are you driving an inferior manual transmission? :-laf

The scare factor :-laf Give me a break man, My buddy has a talon that would give your car 2 tennis ball throws at the track and hed still come right from behind you and beat you. It does matter what kind of scare tactics it has. And if you put about 3,4k into a z06 corvette it would smoke your viper... :-laf

haha, funny. wake up xcumminsx, you are dreaming. money means nothing to me. I've had both and the viper hands down will smoke a zo6, period. The vette is fat, heavy and slow compared to the viper. I was happy the day I sold it. I race my viper at willow springs and the vettes can't even get close. Talon? Sheez, thats a girlie mans car. . lay off the drugs, you are hallucinating again...

nah, the fanny pack is to keep the extra door hinges I keep handy for the young kids like Nicky when I blow their doors off either in my vette killer viper or my automatic cummins. .

The 6 speed in the viper is awesome. crisp, quick and perfect ratio spreads. some launch shudder off the line, but in good air, I am touching high 11's in the quarter, will pull 1 g in the skid pad, and top out at who knows?

I just wish I could install some 6 inch sewer pipes in the trunk that point skyward instead of the stock side pipes. That should attract the girls at the elementary schools in Elk Grove so I hear. :eek:

Maybe some, obviously not all. There are examples of both cars sporting in excess of 800 streetable horsepower. And whatever level of mods you contemplate, the Vette will allways have the advantage of being several hundred pounds lighter.

I have the aluminum 427 block but chose to remain naturally aspirated, with a mild cam, smog legal and am making 500 hp, which I last heard is what factory Vipers have today. With 275 x 35 x 18s on the front and 335 x 30 x 18s on the back I'm mounting Viper rubber with less weight for that same rubber to accelerate, turn or stop.

Maybe one day maybe I'll send her back for forced induction but for now I couldn't be happier and the shiny side is still up.

we dyno'd the viper a few months ago, and its more than 500 hp since it was more than that at the rear wheels in 4th. . from what i understand, dodge is not disclosing the actual hp of the motors due to concerns similar to the LS1 days, the aluminum zL1's and other 1960-70 muscle car days when the hp's were substantially higher than published. its true in my case at least. regardless of what you do to your 427, I have 500 cid, you can't argue with 73 more cubes in a motor that has superior head design. I've seen the flow bench data between the new ls1's, ls6's compared to the viper head, and its not even close. Yeah, you better put a blower on it to keep up (maybe) :-laf
