Hello all,

I was looking into front end parts I. e. ball joints, bushings, rotors and pads, (mine are warped) shocks, front wheel bearings, etc... and the damage was almost 1000 bucks at carquest, and it seems it would be almost half at auto zone. The carquest place sells MOOG and Auto Zone has the DuraLast parts with lifetime warranty. wondering if anyone has tried autozone's house brand duralast?

I can't speak for Auto Zone's brand, but I will say that I have normally been disappointed with cheap parts from any "house" brand other than NAPA.

We have heavy trucks. I live in pot hole country. I drive fast. I hate doing front end work. That said I would not put cheap parts in mine.

Rather than facing the probablity of doing another repair in short order I'd spend the time shopping price on the quality stuff.

That's my opinion.

I myself have had very good service from the Autozone front end parts. I replaced my ball joints, control arm bushings and strut arm bushings, rotors and brake pads with Autozone parts and I believe the front end parts were either Moog or TRW I don't remember which but they were the same brand as my local carquest store at a fraction of the cost. I have put a lot of miles on my truck since then pulling my Fifthwheel trailer and empty and have had no problems with any of the parts.

With the exception of warped rotors (which can be turned once) who said you need all that stuff. I have 460k miles on a 93 and I have yet to replace any of the other parts. Although I will need to replace the rotors next time I do pads. I think you need to check the bearings for damage and repack them if there is no spalling on the inner and outer race. If the truck has been severly neglected as to greasing, maybe, but sounds like someone is selling you a bill of goods. If you have a steering problem, the first thing to tend to is the pot joint, then you can determine if those other things need attention.

Correction, I have replaced the shocks. It helped the ride quite a lot.

Point taken

After inspecting the front end, it looks like the bushing ends have seen better days but the only play was in the wheel bearings so those will be getting replaced and I already have moog 7226S springs which will go in as well if I'm ambitious enough during bearing R/R.
