How much slower with big tires?

Where's the turbo boost?

Well I finally got my fuel gauge and installed it on the outlet test port of the fuel filter assembly. Something isn't right. I'm only seeing about 2 to 3 pounds when the lift pump first fires up (pre-start) and just a little over a pound running down the road. Anyone else using this gauge? Any suggestions? I'll probably run to the hardware store shortly and slap a mechanical gauge on it to compare the two. Thanks in advance.

I have that guage in my truck and see 11-12psi on startup and around 9-10psi goin' down the road. Never gotten lower than 5psi at wide open for 30-45 second burst.

Vaman, where did you buy your gauge from and did you need any additional parts? Also did you use the center-most port off the fuel filter housing?

Thanks!

I got it from Summit and no additional parts were needed. The transducer/sender comes with an 1/8 pipe connection which is very convenient if you have the fuel filter assembly with the test ports. I'm not real happy right now... I've either got a bad pressure gauge or a bad lift pump.

So far I've just checked the outlet port so it's possible I'm getting an excessive drop across the filter. I checked the service manual and the specs look like a minumum of 10 pounds inlet and a max 5 pound filter drop. I'll get a test gauge and do a cross check. I haven't had any performance problems so if it turns out that the lift pump is dying, I'd say everyone out there should probably have a fuel pressure gauge (probably a good idea regardless). Anyhow, I'll post the results when I get an answer. Is anyone else getting tired of fuel system posts on this forum? #ad

YES!!!! I think everyone is POed (or should be) about the cheap $h*t Carter electric fuel pumps on the 24v CTDs as well as the stupid factory mounting location of said pumps. #ad
