need to know what other 1 ton dully front axles gross weights are. I'm trying to figure if my truck was converted or came from factory with the dully wheels. The name plate on my door reads 3840. Auto parts says it should be higher for factory dully.

Thanks in advance

Mine is 5200 front, 9350 rear, gvwr 12,200/ 05' 4x4 quad cab, long bed DRW

I think he's lookin to compare front GVW of a 2 wheel drive 1st gen daully if he's talking about the truck in his sig. I know there's some 2wd duallys here, someone speak up!

As I remember, I had a choice between 4000 and 4500LB. when I was getting parts for my D350. I think I went with the Heaver of the two choices... I will check my truck's data plate tomorow to see what it says. What parts are you looking for?

I guess what I am thinking is that the parts store can break down application's by GVRW, my truck is a chassis cab, with a 10,100 GVRW

Wait, I am Just a little tired, and thus slower than my normal 'slow' state. . My service manual states that the D350's that came with Dual's were body styles 63, and 64 having a GVRW of 10,100 and 10,500LBS. the D 350 with a body style of 62 does not have duals, and has a GVRW of 8,700... the more I type the less certian I get, as I was under the assumption that Dodge did not make a single rear wheeled W-350 or D-350 back in the 'first generation' time for me to go to give up for tonight.

You are both right, My gvw is 10,100 my front axle weight is 3880 per the i. d. plate on the drivers door frame. I guess I am confused as to weather my rig came with duly rear wheels or were after market retro. The parts people tell me I should have a heaver front axle for the duly rear wheels. Does this mean I have a choice when ordering parts?

I am going to reverse my earlier statement, I went with the 4000LB parts for my truck as the front end was rated at 3880 or something like that. I wonder if the parts numbers would be the same... . I think you could get a 'heavy duty' rated spring which would change the axle rating. I think that the front end that dodge used to support the weight of the cummins, was different than the one they used on the gassers... as the center link or what ever it is supposed to be called was different. I found a list Moog parts by doing a search, and that was helpful. What parts are you looking for?

parts for 92

I'm trying to find the correct front brake rotors, and power brake booster.

Did the stock duly rear wheel le extended cab models come with metal wheel wells or were they made of fiberglass.

Fiberglass I believe... NOT for sure though.

Can not imagine how the booster would be different.

"the chrysler disk brake assembly is used on two wheel drive and four wheel drive models with the 3300 and 4000LB front axle. " - from the service manual, the other option is a bendix assembly but that is for the 4500 LB 4x4 set up.

I didn't even look at his sig. When someone says front axle. That means $x$. 2WD has a front suspension not an axle.

This is what websters has to say about an axle.

(1) : a fixed bar or beam with bearings at its ends on which wheels (as of a cart) revolve (2) : the spindle of such a beam

I can't say on the GVW of a 2WD. I have never owned a 2WD Dodge 1 ton.

Well the front suspension of a 4X4 isn't fixed, it is movable ie mounted on springs. So using Webster's def. it can't be a axle. :) :p :D :-laf

tough crowd!! out of my league of knowlege. . which is great as it puts a smile on my face, which has been rather hard to find for that last week. Thanks .

I do belive we are spiting hairs here, If acording to webster we don't have front axels , Will someone tell dodge not to put that information on door plate, re: gvw on front axel from now on :D :D

While I will agree, the tag in the jamb lists front axle gvw either way. He did ask for axle weight and that's how it's listed on the sticker. :p

The door tag on my 1992 W350 factory dually extended cab lists the front axle at 4500, the rear at 6900, the gross at 10,100. Four wheel drive shouldn't affect these numbers, you simply lose "capacity" by adding the weight of the 4x4 components. The factory wheel tubs for the 1st gen dually's were 'glass.
