I have a Kenwood back up camera which i installed one year ago. It has worked flawlessly with my Kenwood DVD Radio. It is set up so that when i shift to reverse the screen on my radio changes to the camera view. Two weeks ago it crapped out on me. When in reverse the screen still changes but i dont have any picture/video. There are only two wires besides the power and ground. A purple wire which goes to the reverse light wire and a video wire which plugs into the video port of the radio and goes to the camera. I traced all wires twice and everything looks good. Is anyone experienced in this sort of thing? Thanks in advance.

I installed it myself. I do everything myself because i don't trust anyone really, and can't afford it besides. I like to solder everything, shrinktube it, wire loom it and i locktite and nevesieze everything. It's very hard to find a shop that puts quality in front of profit. I like doing it anyway. Sort of like a hobby. But you are probably right. Is there any way that i could test the wire or the camera before i spring for a new kit? Thanks

If you can unplug or otherwise disconnect both ends of the cables running to the camera, a simple short/continuity check will tell if the cables are good or not - if they check out, then the problem is either the camera or radio...

EDIT:

OH, and if you have a video camera with a video-out port, that will probably work as a test substitute for the back-up camera itself...

Good idea. I have the multi meter to do it with. Thanks.
