some info on the lift pump

are there any gains to a stock rig by doing the banjo bolt rebore? if dd1's are going to be installed is it beneficial to do so or is this mod only needed when a higher flowing aftermarket fuel pump is being installed?
 
just do it , the factory bolts and lines cause enough of a restriction as delievered that anything you can do will only help the fuel system . the gain will be a better flow of fuel to the injection pump who's life depends on it .
 
I noticed about a 2-3 psi increase across the range after boring the banjo fitting holes. Make sure everything is spotless inside after doing this, anything not cleaned out will get sucked right into the pump.

With modified bolts and a new pump my pressure never drops below 12 PSI even at WOT.

I do not have the hole specs here with me but do a search on: I have the scoop on the lift pump problem If this will not help e-mail me or bring this back to the top tomarrow and I will see if I can get you the specs.

as far as specs i would like to know what has worked best for others as well. are there any recommended bore sizes? i had read somewhere about 3/16.
 
I'd like to know the hole specks also. Or if any one has pre drilled babies for sale.

stock bolt , the 4 small holes are . 128 , the center hole is 9/32 . drill the 4 small holes to . 199 ( #8 drill bit ) you can do this in one step and then use an 82* countersink to slightly chamfer the holes , finish deburring with a file lightly . as hfar as center hole , minimum is bring it up to 5/16 , do in 2 steps , 19/64 , then 5/16 , can be done with hand drill with bolt in a vise . , use plenty of oil , i drilled my bolts to 21/64 . chamfer the hole in end of bolt with same countersink.

i though of making a kit available , have some bolts to do a swap service . didn't seem like there was much interest , i have had a couple of inquiries . i also have a member that offered to make me a run of bolts , i have that open still , but again didn't seem like much interest .

one other place that needs mod is the 2 banjo fittings between the lift pump and the fuel filter on 2000 and newer trucks , the holes thru the fittings are only . 187 , inside of the line is 5/16 ... what was DC thinking ????? modifying these will cost a bit more as new banjos should be purchased and moded , though you could drill out the barb , but it will only go to 9/32 ...

Mopar-muscel, I'd be interested in some of them banjo bolts. let me know if I should purchase some new ones or if you can provide them thru your source.

I will buy a set if available, i would need the set for a 2001 so i could replace them all. i do not have the time or means to modify the banjo fittings i now have. I would be happy to purchase these items, even to ship them. I am not far from stock,but these fittings will help.
