Who was the best gangster: Boggy, Edward G., or Cagney?

Now That Was A Good Movie

From your FTC link:

Will the payment be shown on my monthly bank statement?

Yes. Your bank statement must show the electronic transaction. It should include the name of the merchant or company, the payment amount, and the date the payment was electronically transferred from your account. This information may be included in an area other than where your paper checks are listed, so carefully review the entire statement. It’s important to keep your bank statements; they can be used as proof of payment for your transactions.

Like I said before - your bank is at fault about the statements. Get a new bank or report them!

I am not really concerned about what is on my bank statement at the moment. I get enough information to balance my checkbook. My concern is this, in the event that someone says that they have not been paid. If you show them your bank statement and they are happy with that, fine. If they say show me a copy of the cancelled check, both sides, you will not have that.

So let me get the scenario straight.

1. You send a check to a merchant.

2. The merchant converts the check to an ACH (thereby incurring the obligation to image the check and provide copies - read the paragraph above the one I cut from your link).

3. Your statement shows the merchant as being paid.

4. They then ask you for a copy of the check - THE ONE THAT THEY IMAGED AND DESTROYED.

Simple - report them to your state banking commissioner. ;)

Maybe I'm not seeing the problem here.
