99 dodge 3500 5. 9 / installed exhaust brake with trans lock also. Not sure unit is working as it should. trouble shot all voltages are correct not sure convertor is staying locked. with unit on truck will slow to 40 mpg then it acts as if not working tried to hit accelerator a little acts like conv locks up for 2 sec then it seems to free wheel. Take out of overdrive and it will slow down a lot. Dont think trans lock is engagin or is not staying locked down 15 mpg as should, appreciate any advice are help any one could give me. thanks Christensen

Christensen,

I have an older Banks exhaust brake (it uses a microswitch under the accelerator pedal) and a Smartlock. The Smartlock is designed to disengage at about 35 mph and it does! Presumably this is to prevent the transmission from stalling the engine. The exhaust brake really shines when trying to keep truck speed under control when descending steep mountain passes with a heavy load, and isn't usually needed at low speeds.

Does that help?
